A cracking pub with really nice food. A proper pub with sky sports, loads of choice of drinks and food. Very good prices too. I had the steak baguette and chips, very tasty!
Excellent pub. Good beer, great food, excellent atmosphere and really polite, helpful and friendly staff. Definitely be back.
We had been walking locally and decided to have lunch at the nearest pub. The Balcarres was on our route home. We had a friendly welcome and advised we could sit anywhere with our dog. I decided to order a Jacket Potato which, according to the menu, came with a salad of mixed leaves, cucumber, tomato, red onion, red pepper, quinoa, kale, brown rice and soya beans. Tossed in a french dressing and topped with crispy onion. I went for the cheese option without the beans. Yum I thought. However after a longish wait, the food arrived. Mine was basically a jacket potato with cheese. With not much cheese. The salad was a ting affair of iceberg lettuce, red oinion and small pieces of tomato with no dressing whatsoever. When I quired the missing salad the waitress said they didn't have any of the other ingredients in stock!!. If I had been advised of this whilst ordering I would have gone else where. There was even an apology when the food was delivered about the missing ingredients. Very disappointed.
The Balcarres Arms An absolute gem. Been there today 1.30pm. 8 of us pre booked a table in the lovely Beer Garden We have all been up at crack o’ dawn to marshal on the 36th Annual Charity Bike Ride in aid of The Christie Hospital 2,000+ bike riders, raises an annual average of £30,000 So. Duty done Ravenous all …. Repair to the Balcarres pub for refreshment. We were not disappointed From excellent beers, wines, alcohol free- they’ve got it all , and at decent prices. Whether you want a lite bite, one course, starters and mains, they’ve got that all too. And. A Sunday lunch to make weekends worthwhile. I’ve included as many pictures as possible But, a 5 Star experience, everyone loved it. We’ll be back again next year, if not sooner than that Gets a 10 from Len. ( & me)
Love this pub. Great, newly refurbished beer garden to the rear with a nice menu with all the traditional pub classics. Staff really attentive and go the extra to please. Would definitely recommend
Had Grand daughters after christening meal here food was very good traditional pub grub very well priced friendly staff. Would recommend, looks to be a stop off for dog walking dogs welcomed as well.
Nice place in great spot. Very welcome staff. The food was really nice. We order the ultimate burgers, chicken and beef and both come in great portions, fresh and cooked perfectly. Well done to the chef who was alone in the kitchen as i noticed. The ladies in the bar kind and friendly. Just pls pls pls change or refurbish the old bad arm chairs. Look like a mouse come and eat them at night.
Called for an afternoon pint and some food today. Food was amazing and fresh. The home cooked ultimate burger and fries was really nice. My wife had chicken and bacon salad which was fresh and very tasty. Staff were very nice and the owners are amazing. Great local pub, nice cold pint and lovely homemade pub grub.
Staff are extremely polite, cheerful and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Food was lovely. Toilets clean and well equipped. Comfortable seating with a choice of benches or individual seats. Dogs welcome and water bowls provided. They also have a dog food and drinks menu. Only slight niggle was skimmed milk served with pot of tea and only in a tiny jug so had to ask for more. Would have preferred semi skimmed but only my personal taste so I haven't reduced the rating. Will definitely be going back.
