   Went there a few years ago when a man called Lewis had it and it was an traditional great pub had a refit not my scene but was very popular but went this weekend and was empty and very disappointing bring back the old red

   The Red Lion is situated in a really nice location overlooking Wales across the River Dee in Parkgate. I remember it from many years ago when it was a small pub but I they've extended the property quite a bit and given it a thorough renovation and done a very good job expanding the dining area. They now have a number of small menu's with a very good selection of meals, small plates and sandwiches. I chose the curry and my friends picked the pies ( which looked very tasty) and Scouse. All the meals were very good and we all left clean plates. I noticed that they also had a good selection of real ales so we tried out a few of them. Service was reasonably quick we were well looked after.

   Very friendly staff in a nice traditional pub. Choice of real ales as well as the standard drinks and the light bite lunches are very good value for money. We were in Parkgate for one of the high tide events so the pub was busy but the excellent staff ensured waiting was minimal.

   Been going to the red lion on and off over the years when we visit parkgate .read recently been refurbished, called in today 14 aug 2022 , pleasantly surprised the refurb really nice , greeted by the landlord , the decor really nice ,to me the best is the beer garden really good and a great little hideaway , definitely worth a visit the views from the bar and eating area are spectacular specially on a warm day like today , the two ladies serving really nice ,you can sit outside at front and just watch the world go by , we had sandwiches and chips , they do fries but the chunky chips well better , the menu and prices are really good and vfm

   Even though I have been for a few nights out in Parkgate during the last few years, I've only just gone in to The Red Lion! I wasn't sure what to expect but oh wow...I was pleasantly surprised and had a wonderful evening. It is warm, welcoming and friendly from the start. There is a cosy open log fire, a vast array of drinks to choose from, good wines, great non-alcoholic beer selection and comfy seats. We were a few seats short for our group but the manager went out of his way to re-arrange a few things and make it work for us...and he did so with a smile and a great attitude. He made sure to talk to the locals and overall this place just has that really honest, decent feeling you want from a local pub. It's recently been redecorated I believe and it looks really great in there, there is also plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the stunning Parkgate view. This pub is a must on your visit to Parkgate.

   Great pub and have been going there awhile. The service is great with friendly staff that are always happy to help. As said the service is great and food isn't a long wait. The menu is also a decent selection of pub classics from burger, to scampi and a Sunday roast menu. There's lots of seating in the front and a garden out back.
