Midweek past 8 at night, I walked in and was clocked by the Landlady straight away, exchanged pleasant chat , ordered myself a pint. The Landlady gave me an induction to make me feel at ease. I was 1st at the lounge, then walked into the bar area. Got loads of friendly nods. A gentleman asked if I wanted play this quiz thing (2 for a pound), I assumed it was some kind of an initiating thing (it wasn't). Thursday nights is a pools night. It was busy with bunch of live and let live type of people. A giant plate of chips and sausages were placed next to me. I thought this was was my welcome present (it wasn't). It was for the folk who were playing pool. I was given a plate with chips, sausage (very kind). It is a good community pub with a positive atmosphere. Clean toilets too. I would recommend.

Cosy, friendly, welcoming traditional pub with pool, darts and a good atmosphere. Good place to watch football - dog, child friendly and prices not too bad either. Large bowling green with plenty of outdoor space which is great in summer. Quite often has live bands on a Friday night and a quiz every Saturday. One of the few proper pubs left in Southport.
