What a great experience! I’m so pleased that I decided to take my car to this branch to get my tyres and brakes checked, this winter (Halfords Saughall Road). The client care was exceptional. Cassie the Receptionist was lovely, and they listened to everything while I explained the problem. Following an inspection, they recommended to renew the front brake pads and discs, and were able to complete the job on the same day. The price came out lower than the expected quote, and it has saved me needing to pay for a hire car this Christmas holiday. I really do recommend this team, they are superb. Typically a day before needing my car to drive to the airport, it started to make a loud metal knocking sound which at speed sounded like I was dragging something along. I booked a free repair check online and dropped the car off 2 hours later to be reviewed. Cassie and the team were amazing and reassured me it would get sorted.... and sure enough a couple of hours later it was! The brake shield had come loose and so they tightened it, took it for a run to make sure it was resolved...all for free! Glad I can now drive to the airport without worring if we were going to brake down on route... amazing team!

My Ford transit MOT was due I had tried to fix my halogen spotlight but there was a fault. However, the mechanic Mo found the wiring fault and fixed it for free… And reception manager Cassie and Wez also refused to take any payment and insisted this was all part of there customer care… TOP MARKS 10/10

SHOCKING. AVOID this garage. Wish I had checked reviews before taking my car for its MOT there. They failed it as they seem to do with every car to try and get money out of people. I took my car away and fixed the apparent problems which were minor issues. I booked a retest on a Thursday for the following Monday which was the last day of the 10 days you get to retest. I got there 10 minutes before, they then asked me for my failed paper which I didnt have as i’d been told at the garage i took the car to get fixed that they didnt need it as it was all accessible online. They lied to me and made out they couldn’t do my retest due to that, after me saying what id been told they said okay its fine we can do it but not for another couple of hours, turns out they had double booked and were trying to just get rid of me. I needed my car so stood my ground. Took 2 minutes to retest once they had got their act together and taken it in. The staff are rude and the manager just kept sending the receptionist to tell me what he’d said instead of coming out and sorting it. Two other people in there same time as me were complaining about the service aswell. NEVER AGAIN. AVOID.

Had a truly disappointing experience at Halfords, Saughall Road, Chester (MOT on 15 October 2025). They gave me a two-page list of fails and advisories which severely impacted my ability to sell the car and lowered its value drastically. Unsure about how accurate this was, I took my car to a different garage for a retest on 5 November 2025—after only minor repairs which the garage guy was polite to inform before the MOT—and the car passed smoothly with no significant issues. When I contacted Halfords about the huge discrepancy, they insisted their test was done “correctly” and blamed it on “differences in tester judgement.” They refused to take responsibility for the distress and inconvenience caused, and made no attempt to genuinely investigate or help or offer compensation. I have zero trust in Halfords’ MOT process and will never use them again for MOTs. Ps the Manager Toby was not very polite either over phone and in person..

If I could give less than one star I would. The customer service in this garage is absolutely shocking and the worst I have ever experienced. I ordered tyres through the Halfords website, it gave a time and date to attend the garage but nothing else. On the email confirmation it said click and collect for the tyres, so I rang the garage and spoke to the main desk. The gentleman working the desk that day is possibly the most obnoxious man I have ever had the displeasure to speak to. Upon dropping my car off at the garage it turned out the same gentleman, I had spoken to on the phone was on the front desk. Again he was rude and obnoxious, he spoke about three words to me, didn’t look up from his computer took my key and didn’t give me a time to come back or even an estimate to how long it would take. From the website it says they will have your car for 1-2 hours for the job to be completed. After having my car for over two hours I returned to the garage to find the car still on the ramp, with no tyres on and nobody working on it and the work hadn’t been completed. I was having four new tyres fitted on a Sunday not the busiest of working days. I asked could I sit and wait for the car only to be given a look of absolute disgust from mr rude himself. Whilst I was in the centre waiting a lady came in to check on when her car would be ready, again the gentleman working the front desk spoke to her and to say he was rude and abrupt was an understatement. I will never ever be taking a vehicle back to this garage, the customer service is absolutely non existent. I suggest Halfords speak to the garage and show them the customer service feedback, absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. If you don’t like your job and can’t be polite whilst in work, then I suggest working front of shop at a garage isn’t the job for them.

My car service light had come on a little shy of a month ago and eventually the timer got down to service due immediately. I had left it completely last minute and called every garage in Chester, all of them said they weren’t taking bookings until next week/ January. Except for this Halfords who fit me in at such short notice, the service they provided was fantastic! They were really friendly and understanding and managed to get my car back to me the same day! My tires are nearing being due a change and these were priced up for me, there was no pushyness and I didn’t feel like I was being strong armed into fixing something that I couldn’t afford- which I have had else where. Overall a really good experience with this garage, would recommend.

Will never go to this garage again!!!! Firstly went to this place to see if I could get my light fixed and book my MOT. But when I got there the guy was super rude and unhelpful. Told me I needed to get a whole new light and needed the bumper removed as well as other things and that he couldn’t fix it. Later went to another garage and they literally fixed it for free and took them all of five minutes. Then when taking my car for a MOT they told me I needed to get wheel realignment to pass and charged me £70 for wheel alignment which is a two second job. What a rip off! When I went to pick up my car there was another guy complaining at the front desk!! So clearly I’m not the only one who’s had a bad experience. Won’t be coming back here again!

Van taken in for service. Left van with them and returned 3 hours later. Van had not had service started cos of authorisation issue. Took me about 5 mins to sort out using the phone numbers they'd already been given. Dave, the chap in charge, is the rudest, most unhelpful person I have ever met. From reading other reviews concerning this depot God knows how he remains in charge.
