We stumbled upon this place without expecting much of it and were blown away - really good coffee, hot chocolate (both have real chocolate sprinkles on top not cocoa powder!) and tasty sandwiches with a salad on the side. The service was great. Dogs are not only welcome but our dog got a treat. Babies are welcome too - changing station available in the toilet. The staff were lovely - very friendly and helpful. The owner took the time to chat with us which doesn’t always happen in or around London. Although we don’t live locally, when we’re next in Epsom we’re definitely stopping by at D’s again! Also street parking available. No photos available as the food and drinks were gone too quickly!

It's been a long time since I've visited a place that made me and my family feel as unwelcome as D's Coffee House. We stopped by late morning as we were in the area, and noticed that this place had excellent reviews and were keen to give it a go. When we walked in, I tried making eye contact with the staff, and said 'hello' wondering if I we should wait or grab a table. All the staff had their heads down, and we assumed they were busy and after a few seconds, just walked through. We awkwardly worked our way to a free table in the back, and after settling down, a young man came over with a couple menus, and appeared visibly quite nervous. My wife and I ordered the bacon and poached egg on granary bread, with a latte each. My daughter has IBD so the options presented were very limited, we asked about the smoothies as she wanted something with strawberries, and the young man suggested a strawberry and raspberry drink. First the coffees arrived, and a young lady came over and tossed them down on the table in front of us, which got us raising our eye brows at the abruptness. They came with little lotus biscuits which were a nice touch, and honestly the coffee tasted great. The young man brought our food shortly after along with red and brown sauces. We were surprised that the bread was not toasted, and didn't have the option to do so, but it tasted good regardless. We each used our condiments, before the young man hurriedly took the bottles away, which alarmed us - they weren't being used by anyone else, but he just stowed them away in a central table area without considering that we were not finished with them yet. My wife wanted more sauce but the bottles were taken. Were we being hurried out? My daughter received her berry drink - she had two sips, and gave up after it was remarked that the seeds in the drink were extremely plentiful and didn't agree with her. I asked the young man if we could please change the drink, and at first he said that it was fine, and they could replace with a 'Mango Tango' drink, however a few minutes later he came back in a nervous disposition mentioning that we would be charged for both drinks, so we refused. The problem was they had already taken the berry drink, and also expected us to pay for that also which was concerning. Why didn't they just leave it behind or talk to us about alternatives, and give us a clear answer to begin with? It was clear the young man was put in an uncomfortable situation. When my daughter noticed what was happening, she was left in tears, and my wife and I had to console her from the embarrassment of the situation - she didn't want to have to inconvenience anyone, but was left in a situation with no drink and no options from this place. We quickly ate our food, and promptly decided to pay and leave. I brought up the issue with the drink, and the owner took the cost away from the bill begrudgingly, mentioning the time, effort and cost that goes into making it, as well as the nature of the drink having many seeds from the berries is not usually recommended/liked by children. If this was the case, why was this not considered for my 11 year old? I understand that D's is a small business, which I am a champion of, and am keen to give exposure to the ones we visit, but some consideration should be made of the patrons that visit, their tastes and dietary circumstances, and this was not considered or met at all. If I go to any business where the food / drink isn't at a satisfactory standard, or unagreeable, then I would expect either the item remade, or an alternative provided. This didn't happen on this occasion, and we were made to feel unwelcome and an inconvenience. When we made to leave, we received 'goodbyes' from the staff in the shop, the only time we were noticed during our time there, which felt derisive following our situation. Overall we felt awful following this encounter, which is a real shame as the actual coffee and the sandwich were good, but wasn't worth the way we were treated. I wouldn't recommend D's Coffee House.

Not only is the ambience & staff kind & courteous. The Poached eggs, avocado on Mixed seeded toast was actually the best I’ve ever had (and I’ve had this breakfast a lot) cooked to perfection and every part of it was exactly how I love it. Outstanding. Don’t get me started on the cakes! Unfortunately I do not live local I stumbled upon this coffee house by accident however if I was local this would be my go to every week. I will definitely be back.
