Denied entry by the bouncer at 1:30 am at the entrance. I was with my girlfriend and they allowed her entrance but denied me. I am a 6'4 guy but never expected a bouncer to deny me entrance because he didn't like my face. Why I say this? Is because me and my gf drank the same (2 pints each) . Well never come again
We had my Husbands 50th birthday here and it was a great night! The staff were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us! Great night.
I’ve been a regular at The Backroom for a long time, but after my experience on Saturday, I’m genuinely appalled — and seriously reconsidering returning. At around 2:43 AM, I went to the downstairs bar and ordered a double vodka orange from one of the staff members (a Black male wearing a white Off-White/Black top). When I tapped my card to pay, I was charged an outrageous £26 for a single drink. He then casually told me that the card reader had the wrong total on it — and that the charge was meant for someone else standing next to me. Despite this being entirely his mistake, he made no effort to correct it, apologise, or issue a refund. I explained the situation to the two other bartenders (one Black male in a black top, and a white male also behind the bar at the time), and was met with completely dismissive and uninterested attitudes. One of them even had the nerve to suggest I should “sort it out with the guy next to me” — which is absolutely unacceptable. As the server who presented the payment machine, it was his responsibility to ensure the correct amount was charged — not mine, and certainly not the other customer’s. When I asked to speak to a manager, one of the staff claimed he was the manager and said there was “nothing he could do.” Eventually, someone named Joe came over (who also claimed to be a manager), and he at least acknowledged the issue and said he would process a refund for the overcharge. I tapped my card again and am now waiting to see if the refund has actually gone through. Frankly, I’m shocked at how poorly trained, unprofessional, and rude the bar staff were — especially considering this is a venue I’ve visited regularly and previously enjoyed. I’m requesting that this incident be escalated. I also want to know: • What action will be taken to hold these staff members accountable? • What steps are being put in place to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else? • And what compensation will be offered for the way I was treated? This was an extremely disappointing experience, and it’s unacceptable for a well-known club like The Backroom to allow its customers to be treated like this — especially when it involves mishandling payments.
Celebrated my birthday in the downstairs area and had the best time. The staff were attentive and made sure we were having a great time, the food was great and drinks were brought out on time. Would definitely recommend as it was a great vibe.
We had our Christmas at the backroom, they were brilliant right from booking it and all through the night. Great feedback from the team saying how fantastic it was and the bar staff very polite and helpful. The Photo Booth was so good, we have already been asked if we are booking it again next year. Would highly recommend a party here
I booked a table for a birthday party this Saturday just gone and the communication from staff was amazing as well as the service we received on the night. A big shout out to Serena who looked after us all night and Hannah for helping me make arrangements. We had an amazing time. Thank you again
Staff were the norm ,standard service. Drinks really expensive for the venue type(ciroc n coke-£6:50) Just didn't like the energy of the place,very dark energy !!!!!! It's more of a club that u go hang out with drug dealers n girls looking 4 guys with a nice watch on!!!!!! (It's that kind of club) Better.........I've heard when an event is on!!!!! People are too busy standing around mean mugging, rather than having a dance Age range is 19/35
Me and my friend have a great night every tike we go there. Big thanks to Michael for looking after us the BEST door man!! Great atmosphere, amazing music, friendly staff definitely worth more than one visit if your partying in Leeds!!
I have been to back rooms a few times now and ever single time I’ve been faced with severe homophobia. wether it’s having my mates refused entry because of the way they dress- despite there being no clear explicit dress code stating women have to dress more femme and seeing men wearing the exact same outfits inside, or the looks given by people is any queer people kiss. Although it isn’t fully the venues fault, I wouldn’t ever call Backroom a safe or near to a safe space.
Avoid this place especially if you’re a woman, there is so many men of all sorts pushing in to the girls trying to touch us and be as close as possible even tho we kept moving away and at some point a group of men surrounded me and my friends and wouldnt leave. One guy followed us everywhere in the bar trying to speak to us and when we said no he started begging. There was another guy who started swearing when we ignored him, bouncers stand outside doing nothing having their own little party while there are dangerous people inside, We left after 20 minutes it was that bad. Please avoid it
