Bitter and sour coffee and a really rude lady at front of house. Seem to care about their friends more than their everyday customers. Also, don’t know how you can ruin coffee with such an expensive machine. Cute dog though.

Middling experience here I've got to say, maybe resting on their laurels? Went in for coffees after a nearby race, on recommendation. Really long wait despite the fact no one seemed to be in line before us, and they appeared to be serving takeaway customers who came in after us as we sat waiting for ours (no explanation when we asked why the delay). They also served them in paper cups - when asked they said they'd run out of dine-in cups (there were two other couples drinking in... shrug). Coffee was good but not a very welcoming experience - an explanation would have gone a long way.

Had a nice smooth and tasty espresso, Columbian Square Mile beans. Cool little shop: wine, beers, coffee, some other food + drink bits

Best coffee around! The owners are super friendly and down to earth - good people - really care about quality products and ingredients. The homemade baked goods are top notch, I will always crave the choc-banana bread. Great knowledge of their wine selection, always make a great recommendation when we’re unsure. The fridge is always packed with a delightful selection of beers - my goal is to sample them all. Would rate them higher if only I could.

It's simply one of the best coffee shops in Hackney. Really, they do great coffee. It's also a carefully curated grocery, where each bottle of wine, beer and food is chosen with a keen and discerning eye. The owners are lovely people, proud to call it my local coffee shop!

Just moved to the area and was in need of a good local coffee shop and Balcone is incredible. Not only do they make incredible coffee, they stock lots of different roasters on rotation. Being able to pick up Cat and Cloud (at a super reasonable price) is incredible!

This place is perfect regardless of what you're looking for, atmosphere, style, coffee, food, wine, ALL BRILLIANT. My favourite. Highly recommended the Saturday grill. Really reasonably priced too. It's a pretty chilled vibe and also very lovely. Can't fault it.
