A pub like they used to be but with the bonus of being allergen friendly. As a ceoliac pub roasts were always off the menu, not here, the chef and staff fully understand the importance of cross contamination, and serve up delicious roast dinners. An added bonus as they do gluten-free fish and chips, That I defy you to be able to walk after the portion is so huge. In addition, you have the good pub atmosphere a great staff team, Who are genuinely friendly and great to chat to! This is why this pub is still going because of the basic community and friendly spirit of its staff plus the restaurant catering for people like me and anyone else with an allergy. One of the last gems in the area. Oh, and a good wine And Beer list!

The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, making it a great place for a casual meal. The menu has some classic dishes, I had the chicken fricassee, while my vegetarian and vegan friends enjoyed the limited options available to them. The drinks selection is good, and service is friendly.

Came for a Sunday roast and case is altered did not disappoint. Great portions of food that were absolutely delicious. The orange cheesecake was to die for. The service was great, very friendly staff that looked after us. I can’t wait to visit again.

Exactly a year ago my wife and I got married here and we couldn’t have asked for a better venue. Ania and the team really looked after us on the build up and throughout, with great communication via email and in person. We added some dishes to the set menu and the team were so attentive bringing in the food and serving our friends and family. Luckily, they do a solid Sunday roast so we’re often back for a visit!

Overall: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†β˜† Food: Pub Food Overall a very respectable three stars. Why only three stars? The main dining room was quite cold. Then the potential issue over switching out fries and the bread which meant a drop which I believe is totally fair in the circumstances. The saving grace being the ladies service were both very, very nice. I think one of them had to be the manager. What I liked: β€’ Very good service β€’ Food served reasonably quickly β€’ No issues with sampling any of the wines before buying β€’ Fish and chips were good. Probably would have preferred more than a thimble sized portion of the mushy peas though and a few more fries. What I didn't like: β€’ Being told the chef would need to be 'consulted' to see if it was ok to switch out chunky chips for fries on the fish and chips. β€’ The 'sourdough' and 'whipped butter' leaves a lot to be desired. (See the photos) Essentially a couple of slices of normal bread and some butter in a 2oz sauce pot for Β£5! Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? YES Price point: $$

Once again had a lovely Sunday roast dinner. Food was nice as always, cosy autumnal setting and friendly staff. So nice to have such an old pub with history on our doorstep (well 30 min walk)

We have been to this place a few times for drinks but never for food. We decided to go for Sunday roast. My wife had the chicken and I went for the pork belly. The plates are big with lots of veg and a massive Yorkshire pudding. The pork belly wasn't a cut of pork but a made up roll coverd in bread crumbs and only one slice. It was nice but a bit excessive for Β£16.50. The chicken was the quarter breast section. It was a bit on the dry side. Again a bit excessive at Β£16. It has a big beer garden which is really nice. ( weather permitting). In general I would go back again for food but I don't think I will be getting the roasts.

If you’re willing to wait in the cold and be ignored by waiters, go here! First of all, I’m giving two stars as the food was delicious. However when you rate a restaurant, you don’t only take in account the food but also the experience. When we first arrived, they gave us a table that was too small for the six of us. We changed table but it was quite filthy. We had to ask for them to clean it. I also don’t understand why there are no heaters. We were extremely cold. I noticed that those who didn’t a book a table had heaters near their tables. Lastly, the service was awful. We arrived at 7pm and it was only until 8:30pm that our main meal was served. When we wanted a dessert after having waited hours for the meal to arrive, they said the kitchen was closed. I found it slightly rude that they did not warn us that the kitchen would close as we wanted to celebrate someone’s birthday. What a way to ruin someone’s birthday! Furthermore, they took ages to bring our bill. We had to wait 20 minutes...
