Homely, generous and delicious Sunday roast in one of my favourite Watford pubs. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a simple but classic British roast dinner. My beef and my wife’s lamb were equally good. As you can see in the pictures, a generous portion of potato’s and Yorkshire pudding - with everything cooked to perfection. Depending on the time of your booking, it can be a little bit quiet (14:00 in Sunday for us), but all the surrounding tables were reserved for a little later in the day. Friendly attentive staff, and great value at £16.50 for a roast beef. We’ll be back!! Edit: 19th October 2025 This pub has now changed hands - with owner and chef having moved on.
The food was delicious. Even kids ate everything and said they loved it. Atmosphere is very cosy and warm. Service was attentive and smooth. I was surprised by a free Mimosa on Mother's day Sunday. All our family had great experience. Highly recommend.
Best Sunday roast in Watford. We came around 4 pm few times and the service and the owner is always very nice. Best book in advance for Sunday Roast as it sells out very quickly. This pub won Watford Observer Award 2023.

First time at this pub, arrived at 5.30 and asked if there was a table available, pub was fully booked due to the england game. They were very accommodating and found us a table. Food and service was great and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend this pub.
Recently had Sunday lunch ( vegetarian as there is no chicken option ) and it was very nice .. fresh vegetables cooked well, nice gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Chocolate fudge cake was good too. So much better than other pub food in that part of Watford. Will be returning next Sunday.
The quintessential pub, classical decor, retro style and owners that are flexible in thinking and meathod. Sunday roasts are second to none, highly reccomend the lamb as they actually cook it the way I like and aren't stingy on the gravy! Good selection of drinks and snacks as well!
Great staff, management and punters. The pub has now improved the exterior sitting area and incorporated a live kitchen next to it. The aroma from the kitchen itself is a mesmerising and appetite intriguing to any pallete. The menu is adventurous while keeping the regular gastro pub favourites served impeccably and non wallet bursting. Please see my photos. A picture tells a thousand words
