I have lived just a short walk from the Cricketerβs pub for almost 40 years . I have experienced management changes , refurbishments and numerous changes of chefs. Until recently the quality of the food and service has been mixed to say the least and it was not a pub I could recommend to friends with confidence. However that has all been changed now, the pub has just been refurbished , a really exceptional manager appointed and the quality of the food and service is now excellent and good value for money. I took my wife for her birthday dinner last Monday , she had the Chicken Schnitzel, myself the slow cooked pork, both dishes were excellent. The team are doing great job in what are difficult times for the hospitality sector. Thank you for making my local pub a place I want to visit.

Our party of 10 had a lovely lunch experience today. Alex the waiter made us feel at home and the manager was very friendly too. The meals were generous and well prepared. Prices were reasonable for tourists.

Love this place..friendly lovely lively atmosphere. Not a drinker but had lager which was delicious on Bar woman's recommendation. The food was great I tried the dirty fries which were my absolute favourite with theTacos a close second. Next visit I will try more menue items. Lovely outdoor space with a lot of seating and large covered tables with heaters although there were not working on my visit. The staff are fabulous and I would definitely recommend this place although parking on street can be a bit tight if arrive later in the evening.

I can't put my finger on why I can't give this more stars. 3.5 is what I'd like but I can't. The pub needs some tlc really, it's looking tired. The lake is more like a big pond and the common is not what I expected. The service was lovely, greeted with a big smile and she was great, so cannot take anything away from the staff. The burger was good, nothing special, feltnit was just missing that something. My wife said the Earth burger was really good though. My main disappointment.... The S'mores, toasted marshmallows... But they were not toasted, they may have been last week but they were cold, clumped together and just the tiny ones you'd add to a hot chocolate. Also the Brownie was cold as well, gutted.

Arrived at a rather difficult time with a rugby game in progress so the pub was full. However we managed to find a big table on the upper floor. As a foreigner who hasnt visited many English pubs I mus say I liked the atmosphere. Food was OK but not special, best choice was the beef rib. Gammon steak was interesting but very salty and not tastier than Smoked ham (although looked a lot like it). Burger OK. I liked the sweet potato tiger fries. I believe the place would be even better in the summer when sitting outside by the lake,

Really great value Sunday roast. Only 12.50 (we're Londoners and you can't get a bag of pork scratchings for less than a fiver!) - really fresh vegetables, a fair sized portion of sliced turkey, lovely gravy, really big crispy Yorkshire. Mash not the best but all-in, it's excellent value and very good. Staff also very friendly if you want to chat.

Popped in for some food and a drink. It was very busy but the team were fab and food was great. We had Kerry and Cam serving us who couldnβt of made us feel more welcome if they tried. Really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back.

Great atmosphere for a pub dinner with friends. Bring by the fire was very cosy. Itβs a dog friendly pub, also tonight they had a psychic night and it was so good. Food was good and fast. Free street parking outside. Recommended.

We went for a last-minute early Saturday night dinner. The pub was not too busy and we found a table near the fire. The decor is very festive and cosy. Unfortunately I wanted to order the gammon which wasn't available so we both had the fish and chips which was very good. The staff were very welcoming. The music dominated though which made it hard to have a conversation. Overall a pleasant experience despite the couple of issues mentioned.

Four of us ate here on a Thursday evening. It was very busy but we could order online and the staff simply brought us our food. I had cheese and mushrooms on toast with sweet potato fries. Very delicious, but a more generous helping of cheese and mushrooms would have been even better. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
