We came back to the king William as weβve had such wonderful dining here before, and the sunset from the outside is perfect. Soon arriving we were served by Kat who took our drinks order who had such a great friendly greeting and instantly made us feel so welcome. We originally sat outside but then when the sun went down we moved inside next to the wood fireβ¦perfect! We ordered steak & ale pie and then sticky toffee pudding & apple pie for after, all home made and I must sayβ¦.amazing!! As a foodie I was very content and to round it all off the atmosphere and staff there are always amazing! They came to check everything was ok and because we asked they gave us some background on the pub and the homemade food. Simply amazing and our favourite local now! Will definitely be back!!

Had a long circular walk from Polesdon Lacey and thus was the lunch stop. My friend regards it as a well kept secret and I now know why. It is a quintessential English pub hidden away with a beautiful garden affording views over the Mole valley. The lunch menu is extensive and I had the pub classic...Ham Egg n Chips...it was delicious. My friends duck was also very good. It is a very relaxing place with good beer and great service. A definite revisit is on the cards

We stopped here in the middle of a 12km walk with our 2 dogs. We did not have a reservation and it was a bank holiday but we managed to get a table despite it being very busy. The service was fantastic and extremely nice from the start to the end - and very accommodating for our dogs. there were plenty other dogs there. The food was very tasty and portion size was just right. Prices were slightly high but thatβs to be expected in this area.

Had a lovely meal. So impressed with the dairy free options. Rarely happens that I can have something from a lovely menu without having to ask for it to be adapted due to allergy. The vegan cheesecake was amazing. Lovely views and friendly staff. Thank you!

Really lovely pub on one of the trails around Box Hill. The roast was delicious, the chicken was cooked particularly well! I normally prefer the sides, but their meat was very good. The service was friendly and efficient, although the food took a while to come out. This is highlighted on their menu, as they cook everything from scratch. The gardens are gorgeous - it's a super wonderful place to stop and eat/drink on the nice day.

A really excellent spot to warm by the fire or sit in the sun and enjoy views of the Surrey hills. Delicious food and a beautiful rustic interior. Pictured is the Calamari which was fresh and well seasoned. A touch on the pricey side at around Β£15 per main dish, but thatβs Surrey for you. Would recommend parking at the bottom of the hill in the spaces outside the Italian restaurant. Going up any further is a pothole and hill start adventure. Many people pair this visit with a box hill ramble.

I enjoy the kind of complaints that I read, because it means that if I have lower expectations I might be able to get a table easier⦠Does that make sense? I loved the food, the ambiance, and the service. I went with my daughter after doing half of our hike. A couple of pints and I lovely pastry filled with meat vegetables gravy classic British fare. A spectacular view, and all in all it was a lovely day.

Very nice pub, great location and lovely service. Food was great, including my vegan burger that was really delicious. Only beers we didnβt like that much, mainly because they were way too warmβ¦ but maybe itβs just us. We love cold ones. A part from that we had a great time and enjoyed the food as well as the view upon the valley. Definitely recommended.

Great spot to end a hike around box hill. There was a good selection of local beers and traditional pub favourite meals such as fish and chips, burgers and pies. Food was good but service lacked that extra bit of finesse due to younger, inexperienced servers. Enjoyed our visit nonetheless and would recommend.
