This is a really great pub. Friendly, atmospheric and welcoming with good food at fair prices served by quietly efficient and attentive staff. My wife and I dined from 7:30pm on a November Saturday night and I am delightfully surprised to declare that I cannot identify anything wrong with The New Inn at all. Overall rating: Highly recommended.

Hello Effe ★☆☆☆☆
We visited last Sunday 9th November hoping to end a lovely day out with a warm, cosy pub lunch, but unfortunately the experience left us disappointed. The pub itself is charming and the staff were genuinely friendly, but the issues coming from the kitchen were so bizarre they overshadowed everything else. My partner ordered the burger and requested an additional burger - something he asks for in pubs and restaurants all the time without issue. The waitress checked with the chef and came back to say he “couldn’t put two burgers in a bun.” We then asked if the second burger could simply be placed on the plate instead. After more back and forth, the waitress told us the request had been approved only for the dish to arrive with a bun filled with garnish and sauce, and one burger on the plate. Where was the burger which was supposed to be inside the bun? Had it been left behind in the kitchen in error? Or perhaps the resident dog had swiped it from his plate. When we queried it again, another staff member said the chef simply “wouldn’t give my partner an extra burger." We asked three separate times. In all our years of dining out, we’ve never encountered a chef refusing to cook or serve a second burger, especially when the customer is willing to pay for it. Most of the roast options were already unavailable by the time we arrived at 2:15pm, and the chicken roast I ordered was very bland. The Yorkshire pudding resembled a tiny potato fondant, was still defrosting and had to be replaced. For dessert, my apple crumble came with a laughably small serving of runny custard - two tablespoons at most, completely disproportionate to the generous portion of apple and less crumble and even when I requested extra, the portion remained tiny. It’s a lovely pub with lovely staff, but the chef’s decisions made the experience feel almost like an episode of Fawlty Towers. A beautiful setting let down by baffling choices behind the scenes.

Lovely to come back to one of our favourite pubs for nostalgic memories. Tara very welcoming, lovely light lunch. French Onion soup warming and tasty. Washed down with a glass of red and a perfectly brewed London Pride. We will be back before Christmas Best wishes Roger and Julie

Visited this pub for lunch yesterday with a 4 day old baby - the two ladies serving were very welcoming and friendly. Table service was great from the moment we sat down and after scouring the menu, we both ordered the New Inn Burger - 5* burger in my opinion, the quality of meat and the cook was excellent. Hats off to the chef! Will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed our dinner at New Inn. It is filled with regulars creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. I loved that dogs are welcomed. We ordered the fish and chips, lamb ragu (on reading other reviews) and the ginger sticky toffee pudding to share. The food was delicious and generous. Savoured every bite. Look forward to the next meal.

Dinner for 3 at the New Inn this evening. Burger (cheese £1 extra) was quite the thing after a trek in the rain. Fries were crisp and plentiful, and the salad was thoughtfully presented. Cumberland sausages and mash were excellent, too, with a delicious onion gravy. Treacle tart met the case for pudding, but could surely have come with a more generous ice cream accompaniment. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. Bill for 3 with drinks £71 before the service charge. Five stars next time if you get that open fire going!

In a word excellent! Fabulous food, best pub lunch I've had in ages: 'Dirty Fries' totally recommended. Mum had the Fish & Chips, a child's portion, still too much for her to finish & my hubby the Shepherds Pie, which he was delighted with. Pints of Adnams & a Coke for Mum completed our lunch experience, one that we will most certainly do again. Our complements to the staff. Next time, we'll make sure Mum brings her purse with her!

Lovely traditional pub, situated next to Ham Common and close to Richmond Park. This family run pub offered up a great selection of beers and ales as well as a nice food menu. The staff were great and very attentive, and the food arrived quickly. The portion was generous and the food overall was nicely presented and tasty

Used be a great pub with good food, but after lock down the food has gone drastically downhill. Just had this burger today and nearly went it back. Having lived in the area for over 10 years we will stop coming here until they sort out food.
