Whish I'd found this pub years ago. Went for an xmas get together meal with old friends. Even though busy with Xmas lunches they were still happy to let us sit and chat long after our meal was finished. Food good. Mulled wine was best I've had ! They were really accommodating with the menu choices and not iverbearing asking if we wanted drinks all the time. We all had a fab afternoon.

This wonderful gem located just a few minutes walk from the train station is a real delight. A nice warm traditional pub in every sense of the word. I settled in for some food and a pint while watching the football and I couldn't fault either. The service was professional and polite and I must commend the lady (i believe her name was Kitty) that served me. She was exceptional at her job. I highly recommend this pub if you're looking for the classic essence of what the pub should be.

Dining at The Royal Oak was an absolute revelation from start to finish. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance, with its low, warm lighting and soft music, transported us to a sophisticated yet cozy haven – perfect for any dining occasion. . Our server, Ryland, was a true delight; he was knowledgeable about the wine list and genuinely passionate about the menu. His recommendation for the smoked haddock fishcakes was spot-on – The star of the night, however, was the Venison Lasagne. The meal was delightful,, with the succulent meat falling from the layers of cheese and pasta. Every dish, including the dark chocolate pot was a work of art in presentation and flavour. The Royal Oak isn't just a meal; it's an experience. The attention to detail, the flawless service, and the breathtaking food make it a must-visit for any special occasion or when you simply want to treat yourself. We'll be back soon to explore more of Chef's incredible creations!"

We had a fantastic Christmas party at the upstairs private function room with its own bar, audio system and the screen, accommodating 40 guests of ours perfectly. Super kind professional staffs and delicious Christmas menu made our event perfect! Highly recommended and we’d definitely choose the venue for our next Christmas event again ;)

Went in for a quick after work drink. Decided to stay for another and have dinner too. In the past the food at the Oak hasn’t been up to much but the menu has changed and it was excellent. Venison lasagne was fab… very tasty and lovely ragu. Steak pie, mash and kale was equally delicious. Even the fries were good. And definitely not overpriced… good value I would say - depends on what you are comparing against I guess.

We recently attended a family wedding here, and cannot recommend it highly enough. The food was really something special; absolutely delicious. Every aspect of the organisation was spot on and the Owner, Chef and Staff were friendly, helpful and professional in all they did. A great day was had by all.

Luke and his team are so helpful and wonderful. We held our Summer BBQ here for our company (Hello Neighbour Ltd) and they were incredibly accommodating and helpful. From pre-prep to on the day service. And the delicious welcome Pimms was perfect for a warm summers day. The team had a wonderful time and we even requested specific salads which were not on the menu and what they gave us were so delicious. We will definitely use again - thanks Luke and team

Friendly staff, offered an umbrella for the garden amidst the summer heatwave. Well kept traditional pub with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The Sunday roast was one of the best we've had and we will be coming back for more! Stunning gravy, vegetables full of flavour, generous portion of meat.

A quirky pub. When we visited there was a limited menu. The calamari was good but not very seasoned, buttermilk chicken burger was overdone, but everything other than the chicken in the burger was nice. Service was pretty attentive, delightfully polite and very accommodating. Overall, a good evening.
