We booked the upstairs function room for our wedding reception. One of the main reasons we chose it was the minimum spend package, which covered the use of the space, food, drinks, and service. The location was ideal – just a 10-minute drive from our registry office, with nearby parking at the industrial estate and access to the late-night tube. The setting is next to a canal and tucked away from the main road, which gave it a more private and relaxed feel. For our guest list of around 40 people at lunch, the room size was just right, and having an outside space was a great addition in the summer as guests could step out between courses and afterwards. The room itself often comes partly decorated from the previous event, which you can choose to keep or redecorate yourself. It also comes with a bar, and as part of our package we were able to select certain drinks, have prosecco and drinks buckets, while guests could also order their own directly from the bar. Special mention must go to Kayana, who was our organiser. She added a lot of value for the package by meeting us multiple times in person and by email to go over details, and by helping us tie up the last-minute organisation the day before. The booking process wasn’t completely smooth. After securing our booking, the venue changed their booking platform which meant we had to ask for a copy of the deposit receipt. There was also confusion with the initial package we were sent – it was priced for the winter season, which was cheaper than summer, and caused some budget confusion. The buffet pricing also came back higher than originally advised, so we had to negotiate this too. On the day itself, the staff were laid back and overall helpful. They allowed us to book the Sunday roast (with different meat options) for a Friday lunch, as long as we ordered two weeks in advance. The food was delicious, served in generous portions, and no one was left hungry. Service was efficient overall, but some of the children’s meals didn’t arrive until quite late. From our seating plan and name tags, it seemed like the staff served table by table and called out dishes rather than following a set format, but everything got to the right place in the end. Dessert came out later, which actually worked in our favour as it gave guests a break to mingle before the next course. We also had a buffet for the evening reception, which was well presented and equally tasty. After the meal, the staff cleared some tables for us to open up the room for dancing and were always on hand if we needed anything. They kindly let us store our cake and decorations overnight, and at the end of the night we had to clear our own decorations before the next function. The only real issue was at the point of paying the bill, when we didn’t want to pay the full service charge because the room hadn’t been set up as requested the night before. The manager was quite stern with us, but we came to an agreement and paid a portion. Overall, the venue has a lot going for it: a great location, a good-value package, a pretty canal-side setting, flexible space, and tasty food. The staff, especially Kayana, helped make the day go smoothly, and the space worked perfectly for our size of event. That said, some of the service details need smoothing out. The pub is advertising as a wedding venue but finer organisational details need to first be addressed before it can advertised that confidently. The booking process and communication around pricing could be clearer, and if the room was not free the day before our event, we would not have been able to decorate anything the way we wanted. I would recommend it if you want a flexible, good-value function room and are happy to stay on top of the finer details during the booking process.

I love this pub! Great homage to the Pre-Raphaelite who occupied this space back in the day. They do a mean Sunday roast and the placement next to the river is just idyllic. A beautiful pub with lovely staff and great clientele, and great food. With booze and a river. What more could you ask for?

I absolutely love this space, especially the outdoor area. I could sit here for hours, soaking in the surroundings. The food is another highlight—simple, fresh, and delicious, with no fuss. It truly offers a perfect escape to relax and enjoy.

Best pub food we've had in a long time with lovely presentation. The location and atmosphere are spot on. I highly recommend the truffle mac and cheese bites

My favourite pub so far in Wimbledon. Mostly because of the food and the ambience. I have already been there thrice. Love the fish and chips and their Sunday roast. A must try for the locals. Don't miss the pub quiz. It's great fun too.

The William Morris hosted our wedding reception last Saturday (August 13th 2022) and they did an outstanding job. Kit is helpful and communicative and cannot do enough; Amy who was there on the day kept calm and positive and ensured everything moved to time (as much as she could with lots of excited guests!); Ana kept a keen eye on us and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and Milton the chef did a brilliant job keeping us all fed. We had the *best time* and we cannot thank the William Morris enough for everything they did. If you're looking for a reception venue in Merton, look no further!

The views of the pub are very nice and the food is very good especially the fish and chips. It is a very nice space , very well decorated. It has an very nice room on the top of the building which could be a stunning place to do parties. It is very clean, and well kept and maintained. I love how they display the flowers around. Unfortunately I had a very disappointing and even embarrassing experience at the Williams Morris at Abbey Mills. My Mother came from Brazil to visit us. I took her and my daughter to a walk beside the little channel (river?) and we decided to stop by the Abbey mills to have something to eat. My mother liked the pub because of the views. I am not aware how the system for ordering is and I came to the bar to order. The girl very ruddily said that she would not serve me without a table number. Since we did not know about the system we had not chosen a table and nobody came to help us. She was very rude though and have not showed any willing on helping or explaining how things works , she just was rude by the fact we did not have a table number. I have finally found a table, and after we sat another server came to us and said she would take the order by the table ( seriously? the other server could have explained it to us?????). After having the meal, another server that we have not met before came to the table and asked if he could clean the table. I have asked him if he could bring also the bill. He brough the bill and the card machine and I paid and left the ticket on the table. He was very polite. My elderly mother who walks very slowly requested to use the toilet, so me and my daughter sat at the table near to the toilet door to wait. Meanwhile, the second server ( that one that took us the order at the table), came to me with a bill on her hand, I though she was bringing the ticket I left on the table, and I said thanks ( I did not quite understood but I though she was trying to be helpful and I putted that one my purse). However her face changed and she was looking to me with those killer eyes!!!!!!!!!. I was there for more 5 minutes until my mother came out and this lady came to me shouting and very aggressively that I had to PAY. She did not even tried to not embarrass us. at that moment, EVERYONE in that place were looking at us! She could have done this differently. I explained that one of her colleagues took the payment, she was shouting "WHO???"I was looking around to see if I could see him, I could not. I believe the manager also showed up at that moment and the first lady that were very rude also came to that side of the bar. So I calmly said, "I can't see him around, but I can j show you the payment from my bank app." So I took my phone out and I showed her. She was quite embarrassed, and apologised. The gent I believe was the manager also apologised. I said it was ok. But we know that it was NOT OK! Well I have almost 20 years of experience in hospitality. There are quite few lessons that can be taken from this situation: 1-Lack of communication is a big issue 2- Costumer service training is quite important. 3- Never shout at customer face 4- Don't assume that the customer know the system you operate in your restaurant, and always try to help them in case they need 5- Always check before accusing your customer, specially if they are not running. Unfortunately, this experience putted me off. I will never be Back. But I believe people should come and try. It is a very nice place, very nice food and nice views. Hopefully they can learn with this and improve. I am certain they will and I believe they will do their best,

Visited once so far & really loved it. Nice inside & out & to sit next to the wandle River is really nice. The staff are super friendly. One lady in particular, I didn't get her name but she seemed like she was the main barlady there (on a Thursday evening) was so friendly. Looking forward to returning
