A tale of two pubs - one side is a beautiful late Victorian hall and retains its historic interior and is a great place to drink when it’s full but the other is a wide windowed fishbowl with deeply ugly furniture and no atmosphere. The food is good and the events are fun. Nice enough pub garden. They quoted me £400 to rent a bit of the garden for my partner’s birthday (with nothing included) so in the ended up in another pub!

We had a superb Sunday lunch here with all the trimmings. Lots of Beef, roast potatoes, parsnips and great vegetables. I thoroughly recommend this place. Very spacious and just the sort of music I like. 80's !

I came here today to have a pork roast dinner. The staff are very friendly, but I had to write this review. While I was eating the cauliflower cheese, I realised there was bits of porcelain in the food as the cauliflower cheese was served in a small white porcelain bowl that was badly chipped at the side. I realised I was eating bits of porcelain when I felt something hard and very crunchy between my teeth while I was eating. I thought at first that my fillings had come out, but it was pieces of the porcelain. I tried to spit pieces out of my mouth, but I could not help but swallow some. I immediately started feeling very sick after my meal. So then, I started watching YouTube and then, I knew I needed to be sick. I ran to the toilet so fast and through up everything. I was violently sick. I tummy felt not good when I came home neither. But I did not want to write this review incase I upsetanyone. But I care for people and do not want this to happen to anyone else. It is a shame because I love coming here and I absolutely love all the little doggies here. They are all my good furry friends. But I have to be honest. The staff are very helpful, but last week, I was also here having a beef roast and the beef was quite raw and pink. So I did not feel good last week neither. Again I did not want to say anything because I do not like confrontation. I am a peaceful person, but I have to let people know. That's all.

Huge pub lots of space...Amazing food, great selection prepared by a proper qualified chef. They have great music there... bands on Thursday, open mic night on a Wednesday which has its own band! AND there's a poker night there on a Monday evening which is very friendly and fun. RECOMMENDED!

Great place for food or just a beer. They have a fish and chip shop attached so specialise in seafood! I had the seafood linguine and the salmon was perfectly cooked! Every dish was super tasty actually. It's the third time visiting and will definitely visit again. Edit: we ate here again and this time I had grilled lemon sole and it was even better than the previous food! I've added the pic and highly recommend! Can't wait to eat here again!

We stayed throughout the weekend at the hotel and I must say the room met all the expectations. Very reasonable price for such convenient location, very nice, big and clean room and bathroom. Small amenities like kettle, coffee, some drinks in the fridge, access to an ironing board and an iron were a delightful surprise. We will gladly stay again and we much recommend this accommodation. Although it’s above the fish and chips pub we did not smell it at all, but please be aware whoever needs it super quiet to sleep that the music may play late at night, it did not bother us since we were exhausted after whole day of walking.

Superb. Meal was tasty and well-portioned, and the barman Steve was a true credit to the place! It’s laid-back, relaxed but top quality and honest. The room is a good size, nicely furnished and comfortable. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here again.

This place is great! I like the atmosphere and staff . I take my dog for walks and it’s always been a great stop for a cold drink and chunky chips for my dog girl . Today I was amazed of the quality of oysters and Sunday roast was served in very generous portions. The size of the pork cut its size of my leg lol . Must try !!!
