Service was good from the bar and we were directed to sit down at an empty table where we ordered food. When we were half way through our food we were asked to move to another table because the one we were sitting at was reserved and the people had arrived. We were directed to sit at a smaller table a few feet away and had to move plates and cutlery and ourselves a few feet away. It was their staff who told us to sit there to begin with! The pub was packed both inside and outside. The experience of being asked to move midway through eating was not pleasant. They could have handled it differently.
Recently moved back to the area so the celebrating started with our first meal at our local pub. A good pint (London Pride) and a cracking Sunday Roast (Roast Beef and all the trimmings) Great food, tasty and well presented. The clean plates said it all. Lovely atmosphere. Recommended.
The Crown and Sceptre gracing the corner of Great Titchfield and Foley Streets is a super Victorian pub with what look to me like Edwardian embellishments (note the internal porch) lovely people filling the tables. Great service from the staff and a great selection of keg beers and ciders. Only Doom Bar on cask today but it looks like Landlord is settling. A most enjoyable visit.
Surprised! Went with family to eat lunch, and frankly wasn’t expecting too much as it seemed it was just a “local”. What a surprise, delightful staff who were friendly and chatty. The menu isn’t huge but enough choice. U had the sea bass, which was perfectly cooked crisp skin moist flesh and delicious vegetable and sauce. The venue itself has real character and hasn’t lost its historical charm. Well worth a visit, though be warned toilets are down some very steep stairs
It really is a great pub, with a nice atmosphere, great food and a big selection of beers. We have been served by a guy named Adam S. who has been extremely courteous and professional. It's always nice to be welcomed by a smile, it makes you feel comfortable on your night out. Definitely recommend this place.
First pub touching london was able to meet with some friends awesome time. Beavertown beer was really good.
Was attending an event at the Royal Albert Hall at the weekend and stayed here. The staff were friendly and helpful. On a return from our event even though the pub was busy the bartender found time to make us hot chocolate! Which incidentally was delicious. Our room was lovely and despite being over the bar no noise. Would definitely stay again and would highly recommend
I’ve been to London on a short trip and ended up at this wonderful pub. Fish and chips were divine and the drinks just amazing. The Brazilian bartender so friendly and very professional. Highly recommend and can’t wait to get back asap!
