We went to the Tudor Rose for lunch today. Ordered fish and chips, and a burger and chips. We were still waiting after 45 mins when customers who’d arrived later than us had been served and finished their meals already. My husband asked the bar staff on three separate occasions why the meals hadn’t been delivered. Three separate reasons were offered. When the food finally arrived (my burger was over cooked and very dry) my husband suggested free drinks might be an appropriate compensation. He had a beer, I opted for a pot of tea. Unfortunately I was given a cup that hadn’t seen a dishwasher for a while - so no thank you. Very disappointing. Our server apologised in a very non apologetic way. Such a shame as we’ve had lovely meals here x

Early this afternoon I took a trip to the Tudor as me and the kids usually do and had to commend the mocha and burger I had. What a meal! And we were very kindly served by your waitress tia. Do thank her for me, she really gave us a warm welcome and will certainly be coming back soon

So after a bad experience last time the manager reached out and asked for another try. The communication was excellent and showed they do care about customer satisfaction and the service they provide so we gave them a second shot. My partner had the salt and pepper squid which like last time was excellent and I tried the scallops with pancetta, this was a little salty but overall a nice dish, My partner then had the roast chicken which this time was a bigger portion but a little stingy on the potatoes (only 4) chicken was cooked well nice and juicy not dry this time and the Yorkshire puddings was also cooked well and not burned, gravy was a little watery but had good flavour. I had the ribeye steak cooked medium with beef dripping sauce. Steak and chips were excellent cooked perfect and the fat nicely rendered to melt in your mouth. They can definitely cook a good steak. I had onion rings as a side these were undercooked but are freshly made and its a new recipe so I am sure they will get this right soon. For pudding was a chocolate bomb and this was also excellent and bursting with flavour. Service like last time was excellent and you can see they take pride in trying to ensure you get a good experience and will go above and beyond to ensure they get it right for you even if things do go wrong. Santha is a great manager and it was a pleasure to meet her. I will definitely go again

This is a nice pub and great for drink but we mistakenly thought we could also get a nice Sunday Roast. My wife ordered the roast chicken and then I tried to order the Sunday roast duo, only to be told that it had just been made unavailable. Our waitress said she would go and check with the kitchen. It turned out that that they had run out of roast potatoes (bit strange) but I could have the duo roast with dauphinois potatoes. Our starters of prawn and squid arrived and were excellent. Then the mains were delivered and it went downhill. My wife’s chicken was very very dry and her pig in blanket was burnt. My mixed roast also had chicken which was very dry and over cooked as was my pig in blanket. The worst thing though were our inedible Yorkshire puddings (photo attached), which were more like a pancake and I wonder if it they had even seen an oven. When asked the obligatory question by the waitress if everything was ok with the food, we expressed our disappointment with the mains, only to be told that the waitress was sorry to hear that, but with no follow-up to ask specifically what was wrong. It was like she expected our response. When the bill came we again expressed our disappointment over the food and asked if we could have the service charge removed from our bill, not due to poor service but due to poor food. Unexpectedly the waitress said no problem and spoke to the lady we assume was the manager, for her to simply roll her eyes and that was it. We got a new lower bill which we begrudgingly paid. I was not just disappointed by the food but by the reaction when we raised our concerns, it was like they expect complaints. My advice is don’t expect a good Sunday roast here, which is disappointing as we have eaten here previously in the evening mid week and the food was fine.

First time here following the refurbishment. Ample parking but only 2 disabled bays that I could see. The decor very warm and welcoming but you can still smell the paint from the toilets from where we were sitting. Now to the negative stuff, we had to wait a bit to be shown to our table as there was no one in the reception area. The young lady took us to a corner table and only handed us the drinks menu. We waited nearly 25 minutes and still no one came to our table. I literally had to get up and go to the bar and ask for the food menu and to be served. The waiting time for the drinks, starter and main meal was abysmal. We ordered margaritas and it came without the salt around the glasses, the starters were average and bland and the main was so so. The curry I had was with chicken and it was not cooked properly. Overall really disappointed.

Came here for a Christmas meal. The food was okay, but didn't wow me. However, I was very pleased with the service. When my daughter's panko breaded brie only had the coating, the server was very apologetic and arranged for a fresh order. ( But why would anyone send out a meal like that in the first place?! ) Overall the staff were very attentive. My son's bitter mojito was replaced and extra sugar syrup given.

All the food was really good and the service was very friendly. The atmosphere was also really nice. The flowers on the tables were real instead of dusty plastic ones like I usually see in pubs. My partner really likes fried squid but had struggled to find a place that really nails it: crispy but not overcooked and not rubbery. This place had the perfect fried squid. We loved everything else we got as well: fried brie (pictured), chicken Caesar salad, sticky chicken, chips, and scallops.

Easter Sunday lunch. Booked a table online that morning. But not as busy as expected with some free tables. Staff were polite and helpful. We ordered the roasts and they were served within a few minutes. Potions were large, glad we didnt have starters and could not have managed a desert. Would recommend.
