Pub looks good but be warned, the pub owner is very rude.. no one is allowed to speak to him. Especially if you are of colour. He ruins the whole atmosphere by giving you dirty looks and even threw my glass on the floor for trying to tell him that his front door is squeekyy. Not friendly at all. Terrible service. Only good if your there to have a drink and shut up.

I had the dubious pleasure of visiting recently whilst working in the area. The pub is appealing enough from the outside if you donβt raise your gaze upwards. The landlord was the first thing that stood out to me, I would describe him as a miserable, misogynistic poundshop Gollum. He was to be found in one of two places, either propping up the bar needlessly haranguing the staff, or sat on his own at a table next to a dartboard (sadly no stray darts embedded themselves into his skull), where he appeared to take pleasure butting into other peopleβs conversations. The landlord showed utter contempt for female staff and customers, unlike the table full of teenage boys that he couldnβt do enough to accommodate. I can only imagine that was what the Top Of The Pops studio looked like in the 70βs & 80βs. The staff are polite & friendly, and the locals are very welcoming. On the couple of nights when the landlord wasnβt there the pub was a completely different place, loads of fun was had by all & laughter was heard. Perhaps the landlord should learn from this & stay away, let your staff run the place instead of you running it into the ground. His attitude may explain why on a Friday night the place was quieter than the Marie Celeste, or a library without books. Would be a great little local pub if not for the nasty little character that runs the place.

βItβs the only pub here, so I have no choice.βYou do have a choice & take it. Itβs terrible. Jump on the train. North or south. Just donβt go into this pub. The owners are unfriendly & disinterested. The pub itself is bland & boring. You, however are not. Go elsewhere as you are better!

Weird atmosphere walking in, was explained by the attitude of the man behind the bar. Went into the local with a group of friends after a lovely walk, hoping to get a nice drink to end things. We were faced with stereotyping, rudeness and impatience. We decided to leave, didnβt see why we should support a business that chooses to look down on us.

Barman (possibly owner) must have skipped charm school. Didn't seem too bothered about serving drinks (presumed aim of the place). Had the audacity to tell me to wait a few minutes while he chatted with his cronies (that's when we left)! Suspect he was dazzled by my tan. Avoid like the plague.

Terrible pub. Went to use toilet and was followed by the owner I think? Wasn't sure but he assumed I was taking drugs or something in cubicle. Prices are ridiculous Β£5.20!!!! Its a dump. Very seedy atmosphere. Will only use as a final resort as I live locally. Could be a great place if the right owner was in place.

Great pub with friendly and helpful staff. We were in town for a gig and asked if they'd open early so we could watch the rugby. They willingly agreed to open at 10am instead of 12. We were so pleased that we got roaringly drunk and didn't get there until 11am next morning, despite them having opened at 10 for us. All the beers were spot on and the regulars were all friendly too.
