Proper boozer, one of the best in Kings Cross area. Been a few times, drinks only, no tv screens, no gambling machines, and there is a jukebox! Exactly what you want to get stuck into some pints and good conversation. Great staff, extremely varied customers, small inside you will probably be out on the footpath but the vibe is still decent.
A proper old-school back-street boozer just five minutes from King’s Cross, refreshingly untouched by modern pretensions — no Farrow & Ball in sight. The Guinness is well kept and reasonably priced at £6.20, with a solid selection of ciders around £5.50 a pint. Expect a warm welcome, quick service, and a lively crowd, it was packed on a Saturday afternoon, though I eventually secured a seat after perching for a few rounds. There are a few outdoor benches and stools at the bar, but space is tight. Music nights on Mondays and Saturdays. If you appreciate a proper pint in a traditional pub that’s stood the test of time, this one’s well worth a visit.
The bar has free postcards, and in a tipsy haze I wrote one to my friend, promising I'd end up dragging them here for some great cask bitters. Forgetting their address, I asked the kind bar staff if they'd hold on to it. Well they did more than that - they kept it hidden behind a bottle of Tia Maria for my return 2 months later. The staff on the day sounded confused at first, but found a note left by the bar owner. What a great full circle of events!
Just a stones throw from King's Cross Station, but a world away from the bland corporate bars near King's Cross. Has well looked after cask beer, and is in the Good Beer Guide 2025. Fantastic chilled atmosphere when I visited on Sunday... Well worth searching out!
We came across this pub in the Islington district on our way back from the London Canal Museum. Good ales (Jamboree was a good choice, it also have an "exclusive" cider), good vibes (it plays ska, dub, rock and other good stuff) in a very friendly atmosphere (we sat near the - real - fireplace). We had the chance to chat with lovely chaps, we even got a round of drinks from them. We also learned that it almost closed a while ago and this is now a locally owned public house, so support them by paying a visit (and a drink or two).
Old fashioned (in a very good way) London boozer just off Caledonian Road. Small range of good ales, some interesting beers in the fridge and no background music (just the gentle of hubbub of other patrons chatting) make this place worth a detour. If you’re in the Kings Cross area, seek it out.
Great little independent pub. Colourful outside, muted and calm indoors.
