Everything a town pub should be. Not long after moving to nearby Walerand Rd at the end of January I soon discovered this absolute gem. Even though at that time I was enduring a bit of a mental car crash, the distraction of not feeling so isolated was welcome. Since then I have so warmed to everything about this pub. The atmosphere is priceless, the crowd is diverse and friendly, the bar staff are fab & when Lisa dishes up free grub, well if I went to a restaurant this would get a five star review! The pool table takes centre stage & is very popular with regular tournaments = free grub! Dart board teams, juke box, spacious beer garden, resident woof woof & cat, damn reasonable bar prices, regular events including karaoke & djβs, quirky interesting decor an open fire. Delighted that I can sup a pint in my bare feet, which is a full time lifestyle choice. What more could one ask for? The Anchor deserves more recognition & should be known as a βdestination.β

Iβm an American tourist, just popped in to wait for my train on a Friday. Karaoke was going full blast around 8, 5 pound pints and the liveliest loveliest vibe even though I was alone. Best straightforward pub Iβve been to in the London area. I missed 3 trains to stay.

Love this pub. Everyone so friendly. Although it wasn't particularly busy when I visited, the patrons all said hello. Also, chatting with the barstaff who were friendly.

Had an amazing time! I really enjoyed the local pub spirit. Everyone made me feel welcomed. I would recommend it as a great place to stop for a drink and plan to visit again. Thank you to management and everyone.

Love it old style London pub no frills. Everyone made to feel welcome, including pets. Afternoon, drink just a few locals in playing pool and having the crack. Outside seating area to the back of the pub. Will call in next time I'm in the area.

A very nice pub with warm locals. Seems like a great place for the local regulars to hang out and drink with majority of people within already on a first name basis and welcoming new faces to the conversation or establishment. The price of drinks shocked me for being so affordable, and the decor is quite homely and settling.

An absolute gem of a pub! I've been a Karaoke Dj host for the last 20 years and have worked in plenty of establishments but by far this pub is 100% the best I've ever worked in. The best people that you could ever wish to meet and in less than a year of me working there they feel like family. Great crowds, great atmosphere, the best management and bar staff - so friendly, welcoming & brilliant music and karaoke (If I do say so myself lol) If you've googled this pub to see if it's worth a visit..the answer is yes ! You won't be disappointed.
