Came here for a friend's birthday. They had booked out the back room for about 20 people but I found it impossible to hear anyone without shouting despite it not being very busy due to the insane high volume of the music which just got higher when the DJ (!?) started his set despite there being nooone dancing and everyone there for socialisation. Never have I had a worse time trying to just have an ordinary conversation with someone less than 2 feet away from me. Decor seemed to be derelict shabby chic, or perhaps they just neglected to paint or plaster the walls. In addition, the staff seemed a bit new and inexperienced, which I could forgive except they gave me a spicy Margherita when I ordered a regular one, and then denied it, making me think I had perhaps been spiked or something as my second drink did not taste the same as my first. Pizzas were tasty, and cocktails were otherwise delicious and very affordable for London prices, especially with happy hour. Ladies bathroom was on the second floor and was lacking in toilet paper in all but one stall, which created some nice solidarity between me and other patrons but doesn't exactly scream good attentive service. My advice, fire the DJ and turn down the music. This entire night would have been 100% improved by just being able to hear myself think.

Came to see the β€˜Velvet Horn” Cabaret night with a large group. Everyone had THE best time. Ula Lah is just the most brilliant performer and puts together one of the best nights of drag in London. Three performers, three sets. So skilled, so funny, so warm to the audience. This evening it was Ula, Shar and Yshee ~ we laughed and laughed. The unique thing is there is no stage and they perform in front of a window. Peckham becomes the backdrop to the acts. Amazing, spontaneous comedy. Pure joy. The pizza is excellent. Drinks are great. We were a really happy group. Respect to the bar staff working tirelessly throughout the night and remaining good humoured throughout. Massive thanks to Ula for putting together an amazing evening.

First time back since the change in management...it has lost its sparkle. Saturdays used to be a great dance floor, fun tunes, a great place to end the night...today there were far less people in general and no one dancing; the vibe felt very flat and there was no dance floor per se. While the new drinks menu was great, the whole feeling has shifted, the lights were too bright and the music was totally different. I wouldn't rush back anymore - such a shame as I used to love this place. Hope the new management can take this on board, John the Unicorn is an institution but feels like it could be just any old bar now.

Fun gay bar. Right in Peckham high street. Regular happy hour, every weekday. There's always an offer on 2 for 1 cocktails. You gotta order the same cocktail, but you can pay for 2, drink 1 and come back for the other. Highly recommend the margs and pornstar martini. Staff are super friendly. A little slow at times, but very sweet. They see to you eventually. Unfortunately, they do lack staff, so wait times on the bar can be long on weekends and busier times. Pizza is decent. Not the greatest pizza in the world, but useful as a quick meal and alcohol sponge haha. They do drag nights, have djs, disco ball, fun music and a second bar and space upstairs you can book for parties.

This is the photo of the queue at the bar while the single member of bar staff serves some girls who just jump the entire queue and get served straight away. I challenged the staff member and she argued with me and said it wasn’t her problem we had queued that way. Lovely service.

Cool pub. Nice staff. Pizza looked great, but they ran out before I could order! Guinness was terrible, but overall a good vibe, would definitely go again. Next time, no Guinness and ordering pizza right away!

The β€œafter work perks” from Monday to Friday 5pm to 8pm include great deals for pints, selected cocktails and prosecco. The staff was very friendly and the bar is very cozy. Loved it.

It's literally OK It's very middle of the road, Often overlooked in favour of the other more popular bars, Once again its just another place I might return to while I wait for later on the night for the other bars to get busier
