Visited during a lunch time for lunch. Sat outside as managed to get some September sun. Food was nice, the portions of starters a little small for its price in my option. But mains are filling and well . Service... Started off really well with super friendly lady at the bar, but then that was it. Starters came out but the service then became terrible. We weren't given any cutlery so had to go inside to get some (this was fine). But it's the interaction which made the rest unpleasant.. Asked an older blonde haired short lady who just came out to serve the food and the interaction was just unpleasant. Asked for cutlery and she only gave us 2 sets. I said we were 6 people. Her body language and tone was as if I had asked for something crazy. She then said we only had 3 starters... Which I don't see the relevance of as the table all had food coming still? There were no cutleries prepared for easy access for her but it was her unpleasant tone which was uncalled for. I just needed cutlery for the table which I don't think was a big ask? There was nothing prepared (rolled into tissue) like they served other guests. She then begrudgingly started wrapping some, to which I said no need as I'll just take them and save her a job that she is surely hating. What a disappointment. This really dampened the whole experience and let us feel pretty neglected for the remainder of the afternoon. Took a long time for mains to come out. Waited over forty minutes after we had finished starters. Service slow and practically non existent. I can understand that it is busy, but the attitude given to us due to it being understaffed was uncalled for Pretty sure they overcharged us on drinks as I had a question about the drinks and on the receipt there was a "large lime & soda." There was then an additional £2.40 charge for "long dashes". When queried they said they don't charge for lime & soda and they do "long dashes" and "lime" instead. Both of these appeared on my receipt. Also, if you want to ask for your chips in your mains for example, be prepared for them to remove the chips which come with your main, and charge you for the full side price - this I don't have an issue with, but would've been nice to be told before I had paid. You have to pay when you order. We've visited some times before and it was really nice. But service really let us down and I shall not be visiting again.

Well kept draught beer and good food. I enjoyed sreak and kidney pudding recently. A proper suet pudding with nice chunks of meat and kidney, and a rich gravy. Delicious!

Excellent value food. Nothing fancy just great pub food with very generous portions. A proper English village pub.

Lovely local pub, greeted with a smile, that always helps. Food was tasty and staff were attentive, parking to the side of the pub but gets busy.

Pleasant and friendly village pub with nice sheltered beer garden. Sunday roasts are a bit cheaper than those normally found but its quality is also basic. Worth a visit.
