I’ve been here a few times now and it’s always been a really enjoyable experience. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, and the food has been consistently good each visit. It’s a great place to come for a proper pub meal or just to sit and enjoy the space without feeling rushed. Definitely somewhere I’m happy to keep coming back to.

We have been here before, however this is worst experience we have ever had. We ordered 3 starters and 4 main courses. Initially we had wrong food brought to our table. Finally our starters arrived reasonably promptly but after it went down hill. After an hour i had to ask where the food was, i was told it was being plated up. 10 minutes later only 2 of the mains arrived one minus the poppadoms that had been ordered. The sea bass was cold, the rice was rock hard although warm. The sea bass returned after being microwaved. After another 15 minutes the other 2 mains arrived, (warm). No one came over to ask how our meals were. The staff appear to have no waiting experience as items were placed in front of the wrong person before being moved to the correct person. Other items were passed in front of people eating. Very very poor.

Came here for a meal to be sat near the noisiest, most unruly bunch of people I have ever come across so no chance of having a conversation. Then the DJ began, causing people to block any walkways almost knocking my Mother over. Being pregnant I did not feel safe just getting up to make the short journey to the toilet. I appreciate it is a pub but staff have a duty of care towards their customers. These people obviously had too much to drink and are a danger to others but they are just left to do what they want. We have been to the Ardleigh a few times but unfortunately will not be returning after this.

I’m really disappointed with my experience at The Ardleigh on 5th October 2025, especially as it was meant to be my birthday meal. There were 13 of us in the group, and because of the size of the booking, I was asked to pre-order our mains in advance, which I did by email on 19th September — well ahead of time. I even called to confirm that the restaurant had received the order. However, when we arrived, things started to go wrong straight away. When ordering our starters at the bar, one item (calamari) was unavailable. We also asked to open a tab to make it easier to split the bill later, but the waitress accidentally charged my card in full instead. We then had to wait while this was refunded and the tab was set up again. Shortly after, another staff member asked if we wanted to order our mains — even though we had already pre-ordered. They claimed to have no record of the email. By this point, we had already been there nearly 50 minutes, meaning our mains hadn’t even been started. When they finally found the email, I was told that the pork belly roast wasn’t available, which could easily have been communicated earlier if the order had been checked in advance. I swapped to chicken breast. Then another staff member came over to say there were only 11 meals on the order instead of 13, so that had to be corrected too. When the food eventually arrived, it came out in batches — there was almost a 10-minute gap between the first and last meals. Half the table had finished eating before the others were even served. Unfortunately, the food itself was very poor quality. The roast potatoes were rock solid, the chicken was dry and tough, and everything was cold. Several of us barely ate half of our meals. When we mentioned this to a waitress, she offered a free drink each, but when we said that wasn’t really enough considering the experience, she shrugged and walked off. Later, the manager offered another round of drinks and a small discount on the bill, but by then we all just wanted to leave. Overall, this was a really disappointing experience — especially for a special occasion. I’ve eaten here before and had a lovely time, but this visit was completely disorganised, poorly managed, and the food was not up to standard. The lack of communication between staff and the poor service ruined what should have been a nice birthday meal. I really hope the management takes this feedback seriously, because the evening left all of us feeling frustrated, hungry, and let down.

Staff were amazing in supporting me with celebrating my other half’s birthday. The manager was super nice attending to us and making sure we had everything we needed. The waitresses were lovely too even one beautiful waitress complementing the areo cake. Would 100% be back again.

I'm very disappointed with the rudness of one of staff. Name was Jacob is so rude to me and my partner. We arrived here at 8.40 For food we was told blankly No we stop cooking. He was so rude to my partner here talked down at him made him feel small in front of other customers. I regularly come to this pub as its my local. Don't think I will coming here again and would not recommend this to my friends.

Just had a very enjoyable meal at the ardleigh. Jacob the barman could not have been more helpful with our granddaughter who has nut and egg allergies. Food was excellent real value for money. Well done all the ardleigh staff and chef.

We held my father in laws funeral wake here on Friday 3rd February . A very sad day, made problem free by the staff at the Ardleigh. From start to finish nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, everyone has mentioned how good it was. Thank you so much to Katie and your team for looking after us all.

The pub was very cold, table sticky, the starters - a plate of wings were rather good so I popped my jacket on to warm up and settled in for a nice meal. The staff had no table presence, there was no exchange of pleasantries, no - “how was your food?” the lad with the mullet hairstyle took the dirty starter plates when he brought the main which wasn’t ideal. The Katsu curry was tasty, small portion of rice. The ribs were the worst ever, gristly and fatty, barely any meat. A tiny portion of chips and a salad covered in dressing despite asking for NO dressing. The Eaton mess was passable but literally 5 frozen / defrosted raspberries and served with a soup spoon! The final straw shall we say we’re the ladies toilets, it stank of ammonia and poo, ok someone might just have been, but the extractor fans were so thick with dust and grim they were just waisting electricity having them on. Dreadful. Apart from the starters being good, anyone who is Vegan or a Vegetarian, there is quite a good menu selection. I can’t comment on the quality but there is a good variety to choose from.
