   I stopped into the Shepard Inn in Brentwood on Friday and was genuinely taken aback by how good it was. The food was faultless, traditional and perfectly cooked, the sort of honest British food that feels increasingly rare. Every plate hit the mark. The inn itself is steeped in history, a genuine time capsule. Many of the original 15th century features have been preserved, including the old pond and well in the garden, which add a quiet sense of continuity to the place. You can feel the centuries in the beams and brickwork, yet it’s warm, lively and welcoming. The staff were engaging, friendly and genuinely hospitable, which made the experience all the better. It’s rare to find a place that holds on to its heritage while still feeling alive and authentic. All in all, a wonderful experience in a timeless public house that seems to bridge the medieval and the modern. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks guys!

   A great little friendly pub, as legend goes apparently Dick Turpin the highway robber used to hide in the chimney, has lots of history and a quaint little pub, when we are in the area staying with friends we always go there for a drink or few, they also have a great selection of beers and drinks.

   We visited for lunch, it was pretty quiet but we enjoyed our visit and the food was good. Hot, nice portions and well worth the money. Will definitely pop in again

   This 15th century inn is one of the most beautiful pubs in the Brentwood area, the fine real ale's are always in top condition and the food is amazing. Steve's ham egg & chips are legend in the area. There is also a lovely garden with a really nice pond with ducks.....i would give this public house 10/10.

   Enjoyed lunch here - toasted sandwich so nothing exotic! Only down side was I had to sit outside as they don't allow dogs in the bar.
