We held our diamond wedding there today. It was a warm and welcoming environment. The range of food and its preparation were outstanding. All our guests commented most favourably on the food and the setting, Jim, the young steward, was most helpful and prepared everything we asked for. Lots of choice for our guests. Highly recommend.
I held my 80th birthday at NHCC. It is a lovely venue, but the room didn't look as beautiful as the wedding photos. It was absolutely bear and not prepared at all, even somewhere to put my birthday cake we had brought. When the brilliant DJ announced the buffet was open, we went to see it, and to my disappointment I realised there wasn't enough food for my 78 guests. When I spoke to Sue the day after she assured me there was. Half my friends didn't get any food. How embarrassed was I when my friends came and told me there was no food left. I went to check and the dishes were empty with bits of garnish. I ordered menu 3 for 75 and got menu 2 for 35/40! I would recommend getting everything in writing and take photos, which I didn't.
We held our wedding reception at the Country Club after getting married at St James Church opposite. From our very first contact Sue was extremely helpful and her and all the staff worked their socks off to make it the perfect night! The venue was the perfect size for 60 day guests and we even got to take advantage of the happy hour, which was a first for me at a wedding and all the guests loved it! (Who doesn’t love a happy hour) thank you!!
Went to see Bernie Clifton talk about his life and do a book signing. Beautiful place for the event. Brett and everyone who worked there were fabulous. Wonderful relaxing atmosphere. It was a fabulous night and with me arriving from Leeds for the do the communication between my friend and Brett was wonderful. So eager to help with all our enquiries. Went out of his way to help us. Thank you to everyone involved with the night. You won't find a friendlier and more welcoming place.

Went to a private birthday party. Friendly staff, clean building. Very good social night. Would recommend for a friendly, well organised event.

Went there for the queens jubilee gala celebrations today and thought it was an absolute joke. Massive queues for the bar that resembled Manchester Airport security in 2022 which were at least 40 minutes long to get a beer (wouldn’t mind but they stated “please do not bring your own booze as it would help us make as much money as possible”) At 2:30pm someone arrived with crates of lager and John smiths which they sold at £2 a bottle. Why didn’t someone come up with this idea before in the committee meeting after committee meeting in run up to the event? Why not have a beer tent in the garden? There was no food apart from cakes and Haribo. Unless you wanted to spend 40 minutes queuing them another 30 minutes waiting for it to be ready to eat. My partner said why don’t we have a look on the inside and see if we could book our baby shower here, looked like a dump from the outside looking in but thought I would give it the benefit of doubt. Went to use the toilets and had a look at the inside and thought it was a cross between the Jockey from Shameless and Eden Camp mess hall from WW2. Can’t believe people pay to be member here. There was an amazing opportunity today to make some serious money with fast food trucks and beer tents but 20% of people left after the Hurricane fly by.
