The Travelodge Tamworth, a beacon of blandness on the A5, is where one goes not for an escape, but for a reality check. The building itself, a proud rectangle of beige-and-white, promises a no-frills experience and, my word, does it deliver. Upon arrival, you're not so much greeted as processed by a member of staff who has perfected the art of the thousand-yard stare. Your room key, a flimsy plastic card, is your ticket to a world where everything you need is within arm's reach—provided what you need is a bed, a TV that requires a degree in remote-control technology, and a kettle. The kettle, a small but powerful symbol of civilization, is the room's true star. It’s the only thing that works exactly as you'd expect. The bathroom, a futuristic pod of molded plastic, is an architectural marvel of space-saving ingenuity. The shower, a spiritual experience in its own right, delivers a single, unwavering jet of water. It's less a cascade and more a challenge, a test of your willingness to get clean. But the real magic of the Travelodge Tamworth is its absolute lack of personality. There are no paintings, no quirky flourishes, no sense of a human being ever having existed here before you. It's a blank slate, a vacuum of character, and for that, we must salute its unwavering commitment to being just a place to sleep.

Great location. Check-in was fast and easy. Early check-in was great. The room was clean and welcoming. The view wasn't good. The Bed was ok, not very comfortable, but also not uncomfortable

Staff the best I have met in many years. Top marks for the helpful and concerned for my well being as I am part disabled. Thank you I found out when I arrived the breakfast box was something I couldn't eat so I cancelled tt but could not get a refund and I would have to email I 77 yes old and not sure what to do.

I stayed her for 5 nights early March as I was going to crufts. The hotel Was lovely and clean. The staff was very happy to have myself and my dogs staying there. I can not praise the staff enough for the things they did for my stay. Thank you all. And I hope to see you next year.

Recently refurbished, we stayed mid Feb '23. Very clean. Great staff. Watch out for parking! Favourite parking spit for works vans, large vans, and they park within inches of your car doors, no exaggeration.

A great hotel. Clean rooms. Has two issues one is small as in there is no bottle shelf in the shower, a great inconvenience. The second is major. The lights in the car park have all been turned off. It's pitch black out there. For customers in icey conditions it makes walking around deadly. Van crime is riff with several cars and vans being broken into over the last few months. For female safety it's also a nasty environment to be in too. Do not stay here the car park is pitch-black and extremely unsafe to use.

First problem, the bed. Unfortunately the bedding isn’t big enough for the bed which means that if a couple were in the room it would be a nightmare. I’m just here on business. Second problem is the shower. The showerhead is fixed so you cannot shower properly and wash yourself all over and leave feeling clean. Also, the water temperature doesn’t get very hot. Third problem is the ‘breakfast,’ because I was expecting a normal breakfast in a restaurant where was I was offered a breakfast box with UHT milk for my cereal!! The place is appalling and to be honest if you are coming to Tamworth for whatever reason then I would recommend you find accommodation outside the city centre because this place is a joke!

We checked in for a wedding we had in the area and the staff on reception were friendly and energetic considering we had arrived at 10pm. We checked into our room and it was clean, warm and modern, I think it had recently been redecorated as it still had that ‘new carpet’ smell! With Lidl being next door it was ideal for getting fresh pastries in the morning and drinks. We used the on premises vending machine by reception which was a little expensive but expected for the convenience. When we checked out we dropped our keys at reception and was greeted by another friendly person on reception. My only criticism would be the pillows, it would be nice to have some softer ones in future.
