   This hotel is just off the predestinies Birmingham New Street City Centre, and it a minutes walk from the train station, upper mall entrance. Britania has a very unassuming entrance, Which is down an alleyway off from the High Street. Staff were polite and there is a member of staff on front desk. I was given a room on the 9th Floor! with only one lift working. This lift was very slow and would stop of and all floors to pick up other people, so getting to my room usually took around 5 mins. There are air conditioning units, apposed to radiators in the room, These units doubled up as a heat sauce, however once the units was turned off, the room would get cold very quickly. So was forced to wear jumpers and full attire throughout the night just to stay warm. Lastly, the room door kept sticking, so i had to forcibly push and pull it closed whenever i wanted the door closed. This method would be necessary when leaving the hotel every day, as if i just let the door close on it's own the room would not be locked or secure. Similarly i had to push door to entre room Some good points to note about my stay is that the double bed i slept in was very comfortable, and they gave me a room with an en-suite shower room which i requested. lastly, do to it's central location, both to Birmingham New Street City Centre and it's station, I did not have to walk or travel far to get to my destinations Finally, i would not recommend this hotel for stays longer then 1 night (i stayed for 2). i Was very disappointed, with first impressions. The decor and feel of this hotel seems to be stuck in the 80's, needs a total face lift. In my opinion

   Great location right in the centre of Birmingham. Staff were very helpful and provided extra tea bags, milk and pillows when we asked. There were plenty of towels, a hair dryer, a big TV and an iron in the room. However, the general decor is a bit grubby and the hotel has suffered from what seems like a lack of investment. The rooms were clean enough but not super clean with crumbs on the floor. The window was a single glaze so pretty noisy at night. The walls are quite thin too so bring ear plugs. The room got quite cold at night but I'd brought a hot water bottle so I was toasty. Although the location is very central the hotel entrance in down an alley with some dubious types hanging around. We saw a man urinating in the doorway opposite the main entrance. So it's cheap and very central but there are some definite downsides to the hotel.

   Having read previous reviews my expectations of staying at the Britannia Hotel in Birmingham were not high. How wrong was I! The hotel is a short walk from Birmingham New Street and easy enough to find. Reception area was clean and tidy, with a welcoming member of staff who booked me in quickly as I had done the online booking process. Unfortunately one of the lifts was out of action but due to being on the second floor I decided to use the stairs; once I’d located them - better signage needed I think. I found the communal areas clean and tidy, although a little dated, but this definitely did not put me off. I found my room easily as the corridors are clearly marked with room numbers. My room was clean, tidy and warm. Nice fresh bedding, clean towels, clean bathroom and a good brew kit. I was overlooking the Main Street with the German Christmas Market on below, but the noise from this was negligible and didn’t disturb me at all. The room had all the basic necessities that I needed for my 2 night stay and it was definitely better than I expected. I will say that the mattress was not the best and you could definitely feel the springs - but strangely enough I still slept well! You can hear your next door neighbours at times but fortunately no late shenanigans that kept me awake. Good curtains that blocked out the street lights and draughty window. There was a radiator that I could control so my room was lovely and warm on both nights. All in all I had a very pleasant stay.

   Yes it’s cheap and in a good location, but would still expect basic cleanliness and hot water. Shower temperature was barely tepid at best, toilet had dried urine splatters on the toilet seat despite having the ‘blue’ cleaning chemical in the pan making you think it’s been cleaned. Room size was fine. Location is good but that’s about as far as it goes!

   Don't expect a posh hotel. This is a no frills stay. But the room was clean and newly decorated. The bathroom was modern, clean and plenty of hot water. The room had a really good hairdryer, large TV, kettle and simple wardrobe. We had to turn our radiator down. The staff always appeared at the right time, including letting us in at 1am in the morning. We didn't even have to ring the bell. They let us leave our luggage until we needed to go to the station. Everything was run like clockwork. It's located at the centre of everything you'd need access to. You can walk everywhere. So although very plain this is why I give it a 5 Star.

   You used to get what you pay for. Now it has become a hotel for home office. Its actually quite decent that they are looking after the needy.

   Extremely unhappy with this hotel. We booked on the 7th Jan for an August booking, and then was told today 17th June that our reservation has been cancelled due to overbooking! We have clearly been booted out for others who must of booked afer us, otherwise it has taken them 6 months to realise they have overbooked! Shoddy behaviour.

   I would have preferred to sleep on the street! Sink was blocked and had filthy water in it when I arrived. Shower curtain had mould on it. Room was tiny and no space to walk round the beds. Lift was a thousand degrees inside. Breakfast was... different. The tea and coffee pots had been mixed up so for my breakfast hot beverage I had toffee, or coftea, if you prefere! AVOID
