   My friend and I popped into Pizza Express for a casual catch-up and left thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was just right, relaxed enough for a proper conversation. Our food arrived promptly, nice temperature and genuinely nice. What really made the visit, though, was the service; the staff were attentive without being intrusive and had a really friendly manner. A solid all-rounder, we'll certainly be returning.

   I visited during half term with a group of 3 adults and 2 small children. As we were shown to our table, the person who appeared to be the manager asked if I had the app and suggested checking for any offers, like the "Kids Eat Free" deal. I followed his advice, downloaded the QR code, and showed it to our waiter when we ordered. He acknowledged and said he would scan it later. The meal itself was lovely—starters, mains, and drinks were all great. When we went to order coffee, we were told that they didn’t offer decaf options. We decided to settle the bill instead. When the waiter scanned the QR code and we paid, I realized that only one of the kids' meals had been discounted, despite the offer being advertised as "one kid’s meal per one adult main meal." After checking with staff, I was told, “It’s ONE kid eat free,” which I thought was an unhelpful response. I explained we were 3 paying adults who had ordered mains, but the reply I got was, “It’s ONE kid per adult registered with the app." While I understand that there are terms and conditions, I was really let down by how this was handled. It would have been far more professional if the staff had informed us up front—at the point of scanning the QR code and generating the bill—that the offer would only apply to one child. Had we known, another adult could have easily registered with Pizza Express and downloaded the app to take full advantage of the deal. Instead, we were left feeling misled. Overall, while the food was good, the lack of transparency and the poor handling of the situation means I won’t be returning.

   Nice pizza. I went there for a friends birthday party and there were about twelve of us there. The staff were very welcoming of us and kindly put some tables together. I had the crispy burnt ends pizza and it was delicious. There are many vegan and vegetarian options too as well as pasta.

   Love the food at Pizza Express as a chain overall and this restaurant generally boasts good food & quite good service too. I am not so keen on the inside of the restaurant as it feels too claustrophobic but considering there aren't many places in Caterham Valley to choose from when it comes to eating out (I guess that's not completely true - but if you visit the area I think you'll know what I mean) anyway I really enjoyed my visit in August 2021 with some friends and the food was spot on although there were quite a few things on the menu that weren't available because they were awaiting a delivery for the next day they said. Still it was enjoyable.
