I practically grew up in Chapter One : it was my study room for many years & a place that I hold a lot of memories. However, since the merging with Mala (which I love), the service provided by the barristas working here has significantly declined. To be specific, a blonde lady with a southern accent who rudely dealt with me after a period of not being here since it’s merging. She directed me to scan the QR code in an unwelcoming tone & then projected annoyance when Id asked if the “cafe” in the link was indeed “chapter one” for which she replied “Well it would be since it’s a cafe wouldn’t it?”, clearly not realising the history of the place & life prior to Mala. The spirit of the staff is what made this place so great with their beautiful aura. This lady who I’ve never met prior is the antithesis to this. However, this one encounter will not deter me or my close circle from coming to one of my favourite places in my hometown. I’d reconsider the type of energy present in my workers.

although i miss the old chapter one like most reviewers, i did find that, with how quiet it was at 11-1 on a weekday, it was very close to the old atmosphere. there was still music on speakers, but my headphones did fine. the food was 10/10

Amazing place. The atmosphere is amazing. The food is very delicious, and so are the dessert. The coffee is fantastic too. The Spanish latte from here is the best I’ve had in Manchester, both hot and cold!

An absolute gem to coexist with your people in! If you’re wanting to work away, catch up, converse and coexist in a charming setting, this is the place in Manchester to do that. Quirky and cosy, but big enough to find your own corner in it. The coffee was delightful. And, with what’s available to you, it’s very easy to see yourself being here all day and night. Even if it looks like the toilet is judging you for using it, haha A place to be out in public but remain at home, hidden and private. You can go here many different times and have a different experience of it, depending on the mood you are in.

Wow. This has to be one of the best cafes I’ve ever been to! It’s located in the Northern Quarter (Manchester) and it’s situated in an urban area. When you walk inside, you are greeted with a calming fountain and a beautiful atmosphere, just as calming as the fountain. You talk to the staff, who are very nice and kind (10/10) and order your drink (if you want). There is also a wide array of affordable food, you can get cakes, chapatis and quesadillas as well. I ordered Karma Cola (sugar-free) which doesn’t taste like any other cola, it tastes better. The cola isn’t too sweet as well, compared to other colas. You explore around the cafe, curiously, and find the Library. Now, this library is the calmest library I’ve ever been to. Shelves are filled with books and the room is painted in an ambient brown, making it feel even more calming. You look around the library, head to toe in a sense of tranquil. No music is played here. It’s very quiet. You leave the cafe satisfied and calm. Overall, you need to try this cafe, it’s great. The staff are nice, it is affordable, drinks are high quality and if you are looking for a cafe where you can study or just relax, this is the right place for you.

I like the Chapter One. Nice atmosphere and usually good coffee and cake. This time around we tried the "Gulf" corner. It is a really nice area inside the shop. Disappointingly, the "arabic" coffee served was basically plain brown water and I cannot recommend ordering it especially at £6.20. The food was good.

Very ambient and relaxing environment, every corner of the cafe is photogenic and unique. 5 stars for the environment itself. Coffee was okay, would love to try other cake and coffee too.
