   Visited this store today. Nice store well laid out. Decent sized cafe BUT no toilet facilities! Can't believe it for a store this size. Unbelievably was told by a member of staff to use the one in Tesco! So, had to cross the busy car park in the pouring rain. A significant number of m and s shoppers are of a certain age so a toilet is essential! Disappointed!

   This is a huge store but very well set out. Coffee shop is great and although you had to order via a machine your coffee and sandwich was delivered to the table. It was very busy but the service was great. The table next to me had not understood the ordering correctly and over ordered so when the drinks were delivered there were too many. The lady waiting the table was so kind she sorted them out without causing and issue and organised a refund too. Very thoughtful. Sometimes we older people don't understand these machines and it would be a better idea in my opinion if there was someone there to assist with this or just by asking older people if they would like assistance ordering. As I said it was rather busy but well done to the lady who sorted it out.

   I today 10 minutes before closing, as soon as Ali walked in a staff member called ‘Elaine’ raised her voice and said ‘we’re closing in 10 minutes’ from that comment I had to justify why I went into the known open stores however was made to feel like I shouldn’t be there as a result I complained to the manager about her. However, there was one lady when I got there who was very mannered ans apologetic with me ans showed sympathy. Sadly I did not get her name but she made the situation less hurtful. This should not happen, if the store is closing in 10 minutes then we are still legally allowed to shop and be customers. Please train your staff.

   Unexpectedly found myself in need of some physical and emotional support having raised a concern with the team at M&S Handforth Dean today. My concern was listened to and taken on board with a sincerity towards resolving the issue but more importantly the professional and experience demonstrated by team manager Karen confidently supported by the brilliant and kind Rosie was exceptional. Store manager Laura is to be congratulated on an outstanding and committed team. My sincere thanks to all concerned.

   What a fabulous experience. I went food shopping last night and it honestly looked like there had been a war. Half of the things I needed they had sold out of, people had scattered food all over the shelves so it was all untidy. I went back at 6am. All the shelves beautifully stacked, got everything I needed in 10 minutes. There was even a member of staff hoovering the carpets at the entrances. Your staff are a credit to you and the store looked fabulous this morning.

   Sadly, the cafe was very dirty. Around 8 tables were pilled up, with used trays and crumbs, near to us. Our table had been cleaned but the chairs were dirty and we almost sat down on wet chocolate and crumbs. Eek! There were no signs of gluten free cakes or scones. Gluten free brownies were on the rack. Cakes, under domes, looked lovely. The service was not too bad. We waited a while but 2 kiosks were open to serve and make drinks. I noticed a lady, 2 in front of me, was given gf scones 2 pack. I asked for gfree too. When I was served the assistant added scone and drink. I asked her about the special offer from 3pm for drink and cake and she agreed to charge me the offer. After all, I would like to eat the beautiful cakes but I have coeliac disease and need gluten free. My daughter had chips with her drink. They arrived pretty soon and they lady who served her was very polite and gave good service. Overall, adequate. Shame that M & S don't up their game. They used to be so great. In the store we purchased around £90 in the lingerie department. Assistant was polite. I asked another floor assistant about recycling old m and s clothes. She said that M & S don't recycle anymore. When I went to the exit to get some air and use my WiFi for Sparks App, I found that the store does recycle items for Oxfam. I deposited them in the 'bin' provided. Perhaps staff should be informed that the recycling point is in the main entrance? In the food department all products were well packaged and placed. We collected all the items we wanted and lovely Catherine served us. I usually go to her checkout because she is very nice and polite to all her customers. She had a queue but I am happy to wait for Catherine to serve me.

   Lovely big store and very tidy. Cafe was good with quick friendly service. So much choice in the store and some great displays. Shop floor staff very helpful, food hall was great. All the cashiers only interested in pushing the sparks card which spoiled the visit.
