South Locality Team ( Swallownest Court). My ongoing experience and interaction with the South Locality team based at Swallownest Court Hospital and the manager of the team have been deeply distressing and have had a detrimental impact on not only my physical health but also my mental health. The South Locality Team has shown a clear lack of empathy, a dismissive attitude, a failure to address my concerns and a blatant disregard of my mental health needs. The clinicians in charge of my care and support would rather focus on rescheduling meetings, which causes me more distress, rather than addressing the problems I am facing, and they know this. When they have a meeting about me moving forward, they deliberately restrict my access to the feedback, which only exacerbates my distress, which suggests to me a toxic culture within the team in charge of my care. I recently had a phone call from the manager of the South Locality Team, basically stating that I need to focus on my physical health as I have just received a diagnosis of a right-sided kidney cancer. She also informed me that I can always call duty if I need help and support over the phone. I called in to discuss a concern that I had on a Wednesday afternoon; however, they did not get back to me until the following Thursday, when I escalated the care that I was receiving to senior managers at headquarters. I need mental health support now, and not 2-3 months down the line when my mental health has deteriorated. Their blatant disregard and lack of empathy only go to show that the South Locality Team is not fit for purpose.
