Booked a room with bed and breakfast and an evening meal ages ago for an event in the Abbey. It then changed management. No one contacted me to inform me that we would have no breakfast and no meal. Really poor communication, actually, no communication at all. Room was ok, in need of a really good clean and refurbishment. Definitely not worth the money.

The staff here were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really good and very well cooked. The big let down was the room. Whilst the sheets were clean and the bed reasonably comfortable, the en suite was bad. There was mould on the ceiling and elsewhere, the toilet was leaking from the soil pipe, it was poorly lit and smelly.

Stopped here for 2 nights when working in the area. Lovely spacious rooms in the family suite only downside was the shower was very poor water pressure and needs addressing and also the tv needs looking at very minimal channels that worked properly without breaking up. However a good central location friendly staff and the breakfast was tasty. Free parking round the back included with hotel.

I called in for a bar meal and a drink. Staff were friendly and the pub was clean and tidy. There was plenty of outdoor seating and was quite busy. I had scampi, chips and garden peas. They looked a bit lost on the plate to be honest. The peas were diabolically hard, luke warm at best and many of them looked like they had imploded. The scampi and chips were decent enough although portion wise on the small size. Presentation of the meal was poor, looked like it was dropped onto the plate from a height I had a pint of Guinness which was great. Creamy and smooth as it should be. If presentation improved and the peas were banished to the outer regions of the kingdom then it would have got 4 stars.

Had a great 2 day stay , the management were so helpful and generous when we had to unexpectedly change our reservation. The family room we stayed in was great, plenty of room , clean and a nice en-suite. The cooked breakfast was made to order so nice and fresh , with cereals , toast and other items were all on hand for you to help yourself . Free guest parking at the back of the property. We will definitely be booking again when we come up to Yorkshire.

Have never stayed in rooms as local but come here for a decent fry up as well as lunch & dinner. Staff always nice, good pub if you like sports, big outdoor area at the back. Have recommended to friends who've been and love the food also. Right next to Selby Abbey surrounds by good amenities/shops/transport.

Hotel stay one night Evening meal Breakfast This is Stonegate Group pub as such it is more pub than hotel. The room I had was basic but clean, the shower seemed to just be hot rather than an adjustable temperature. It is a little noisy as the pub clientele when I was there was mainly contractors. The staff very friendly and helpful. There is parking at the rear. Food was wholesome and hearty but not refined and that's fair enough as this is a pub. Breakfast was the usual cereal to hand as well as a cooked breakfast.

Would recommend. We booked it based on reasonable price plus breakfast included. Just dropped 1 star as the shower was stuck on permanently hot so only had minutes to shower before being scalded! Good food, large helpings, quick to arrive, eat-all-you can breakfast, clean, warm room & bathroom, comfortable bed, quiet.

Nice pub with friendly and quick service. Can't fault it but I haven't yet tried the food so next time I am in town I will certainly have some. Plenty of TVs of you want to watch the sport bit doesn't take over the whole pub. Well worth a visit

Called in Saturday dinner time with a moody teenager, he ordered Bacon Chicken double Burger with chips, coke and an Americano for me. Food arrived piping hot, massive portion and tasty. Staff friendly and table clean. Music playing low and sports on multiple television. Pool table in separate area.
