This happened a while ago. But I still get triggered whenever I see the salon. I had recently relocated to Croydon, had a baby, and could no longer afford the long journey to central London where my hairdresser of the past 10 years is based. I noticed this salon and decided to give it a try. I called and made an appointment — so far, so good. Unfortunately, I had to cancel, so I called to let them know. They told me that if I didn’t pay the cancellation fee now, they would charge me for the cost of the cancelled blow dry if I rebooked. I objected because the whole thing felt like a scam — it’s a poor practice aimed at squeezing extra money from customers. Clearly, this salon isn’t serious about gaining or keeping customers. After reading more reviews, I’m relieved — I definitely dodged a bullet!
My first few experiences with SNM Hair London were relatively good, thanks to different hairstylists. However, my experience took a turn for the worse when I was assigned an apprentice. The first time she did my hair, it was poorly done. I had booked a two-strand twist style, but she arrived late and didn’t execute the style properly. Halfway through, she asked another stylist for advice on technique, which made me concerned about the quality of what she had done so far. Even her coworkers seemed to recognize that my hair wasn’t up to standard. When I got home, my mother was shocked and questioned why I had paid full price for such a result. Thankfully, I had exams that month, so I was able to cover my hair with a scarf and only went to school for my tests. If I hadn’t previously had my hair done well by other stylists at the salon, I would have never returned. For my next appointment, I specifically booked a stylist who had done my hair before and met my expectations. However, upon arrival, I was informed that she was working on another client, and a different stylist would have to do my hair instead. I wasn’t told this in advance, which I didn’t appreciate—especially since I had booked that specific stylist. In my opinion, if the stylist I booked was unavailable, I should have been given the option to reschedule. Instead, they had the apprentice do my hair again. While the result was slightly better than last time, it still wasn’t to my preference. My final encounter with the apprentice was the worst. She was assigned to do my hair again, but the customer service was terrible. She arrived late once again. While waiting, I was using my laptop, and as she started my hair, she sprayed water everywhere—including on my computer. She applied gel without asking and made my twists extremely thin. She also made my parts sized bigger than what I booked for. Throughout the appointment , she was watching Love Island on her phone, which was placed on a trolley beside her. Because of this, she kept pulling my head in the direction of the screen as she twisted my hair. When another employee asked why she was watching Love Island while working on a client, she simply responded, “Because I can.” Shockingly, instead of addressing the issue, the employee—who was older and in a position of authority—continued chatting with her while she worked. I left with my hair looking like twigs and feeling completely uncomfortable. The lack of accountability in the salon was disappointing. It’s a shame because I initially saw potential in this place and had wanted to continue coming here after leaving a salon. Unfortunately, the service just wasn’t up to standard.
Been going to Porscha for over 5 years now. Only girl I fully trust with my hair right now. She’s always so gentle in her haircare and trust and believe I’m tender headed. Her products are top grade and you always leave feeling brand new! Please try visit and feel the luxury I’ve been experiencing for years x
Terrible service First time I went there, I had to wait an hour and 30 minutes for Porsche. Now I booked an appointment for today, and called to say I would be 10 minutes or less late because my train was delayed; the lady said I should come and she would see what she could do. Only to get there now and she said she couldn’t attend to me. After an hour-long journey from Stratford.
Customer service: they are caring and welcoming, everyone has a smile. They are good with their organisation, and will politely explain any inconveniences. Shop: recent expansion and redecoration has added value and luxury to the shop floor, and allowed more space. High ceilings also add to the luxury feel. Services: good range of services (I've only currently used the natural hair services). I will definitely add that my hair has flourished since coming here. I have dry scalp and the scalp treatment and sound advise for maintenance at home has really improved my scalp condition. For those who are tender headed and have had enough of hairdressers treating your natural hair as if it is a problem, SNM London will make you feel the opposite. Gentle, caring and they actually pay attention to what your hair needs. Prices: honestly nothing to complain about. Very standard prices I've been choosing SNM London over all the salons in Croydon for a good reason. Thanks to all the staff for your hard work x
I arrived on time for my 11.30 appt, I was greeted by the owner who gave me a covid compliance form to complete. At 11.40 I was taken to the hair washing area. Nazia (apologies if spelt incorrectly) is still training but always sought advice from Porscha. She took her time preparing my scalp for washing (it was very dirty) when it was time for treating Porscha returned and assessed my hair follicles recommending the best treatment. After my hair was dried using a cotton cloth (afro hair), this process finished at around 13.10 Porscha started my silk press styling at 13.30 again recommending the best products for my hair type and how often I should treat and trim (thank you). She finished around 14.40 just in time for me get to the school run. The salon was clean and the team were professional and friendly. Possibly as my appt was booked before the online system was set up it over ran slightly (there were two other ladies before me). Thank you for your service, I will definitely return. September 2022 update Porsha has expanded her salon (physically) and increased her services and staff members. They continue to provide an excellent service to all customers including two of my sisters who I recommended.
This was my first time using SNM London Hair Studio in Addiscombe. I did not realise they had been there 2 yrs, and recently expanded. I found the service to be professional from first telephone contact and booking in, through to hair styling. The salon is spacious, modern, clean and airy with a great range of hair care products and hair dressing tools. I was impressed with the modern, comfortable washing stations. The staff team were all friendly and they hardly seem to take a break! They offered customers a choice of beverages/Soft drinks which was a nice touch. But the outstanding factor was Porscha's customer care. She thoroughly examines your hair (after a compulsory earlier patch test) and offers a range of advice and treatment options. The staff never push you to do anything you do not want to nor tries to sell the instore haircare products. But if you ask, the stylist will recommend whatever suits your hair. I had a relax, treatment, colour, trim and style. Porscha has the softest touch ever from any hairdresser. She has such soothing hands which felt like a luxury when she was washing and treating my hair, everything was gentle. None of that tugging my hair like it was detached from my head that I've experienced elsewhere! Porscha was patient and has a soft spoken, polite and professional manner. If she keeps you waiting, she will apologise. Although I was there longer than expected, I took it in my stride as they were such a nice team. I have also referred my Son there to have his hair cane rowed. It's a hidden gem, though you need to book up early as they are growing in popularity. The price was competitive and good value. I will definitely be back as a new convert and will recommend their work. Keep up the good work. JA
This is the best hairdressing experience I’ve ever had! Portia and her team are amazing! They are attentive, engaging and actually care about your hair. Portia is gentle with my fine 4c hair and gives great hair and aftercare tips. Prices are very reasonable and affordable too! I plan to continue to come here! 10/10
