Had my first haircut by Lucy. She did a great job and I’m really happy with it. Lucy was really friendly and had loads of patience, I’d definitely recommend her and I’ve already made another Appointment.

I've very curly/wavy hair in parts and then other parts are quite straight, some very thick other parts thin. I have tried official Deva curl (dry) cuts in the past which were all miserable. And I went to a hairdresser nearby (before I found Gem) who always told me off and said it was not possible to cut hairstyle XYZ I really wanted. I hated her cuts (but they were less bad than others so I stayed till I couldn't cope anymore). She was not even convinced when I showed her pics of cuts I used to have, just awful. The only good haircuts I've had are the ones done by no bullshit hairdressers who've got curly hair themselves or happened to have learned curly haircutting and basically just listen very well to the customer and to the hair, and are creative and learn on the go. Gem is one of them. He is absolutely no nonsense, but listens very well, adjusts when I come back and say I want some changes, and is open to trying out new (weird and quirky) styles!! I feel so confident that I nowadays bring a book to read and let him do his thing. I always feel very confident and trust that I walk away with a cut I like (a rarity if you've got curls). I have received so many compliments about my haircut!! The one he did this week is just sublime!! I absolutely LOVE it. I barely ever leave a review. But I could give him 6* if I could! 110% recommend!!
Had a haircut and styling with Brooke and I'm super happy with the result. She managed to fix the mess I had from previous haircuts done overseas and give my hair the texture and volume I wanted. Plus normally when I get it styled it's always flat a few hours later, but it's been 12h and my hair is still holding. Thanks Brooke, I'll definitely come see you again when I return to London x

I've been coming here for some time because it's a lovely place with very competent hairstylists! I have very fine fly away hair and I wanted a completely different and shorter style of which i was a bit nervous about but Brooke put me at my ease which gave me the confidence to go ahead and have it done! I had such a lovely first experience at Escape Hair today with Brooke, I came in to sort my colour that had gotten brassy and for a cut. Had a really thoughtful consultation followed by a hair cut and toner that made my hair better than I pictured when I went in. All of the staff so lovely welcoming me when I came in. I cant wait to go back.
