Tobias did an amazing job with my hair. I’ve never been able to find a hairdresser that’s actually made my natural curls look good, and he’s managed it. Left the salon feeling confident in my natural hair texture which is a first. Will 100% be back!
I am so happy to have met Lucy today, I came feeling great after having my hair restyled. The girls I spoke with were really nice and I felt extremely welcomed and comfortable. I’m a bit devastated. I haven’t been to the hairdresser in about a decade and had really long hair and healthy hair when I came in - I cut my own hair. I wanted fluffy 70’s style layers that would still keep my length and give me a bit more volume (I saw these on their Instagram pages). I left the salon with my hair still slightly damp and a lot of hair off but quite excited with the new cut. When I got home and brushed my hair I looked like Paul McCartney (the layers were overly poofy in places and then flipped at the ends awkwardly). In pictures I had from today, my hair looks choppy and damaged, much worse than when it was long. The back of my head looks like it has two layers with the longer hair looking like extensions. I’m also quite disappointed that I didn’t have a blow out like I had expected, I have no idea how to style this hair. I feel there was a bit of an overstep with what was done - I mentioned being anxious a few times about the amount being cut and scared of it looking like a mullet. Unfortunately, now my hair properly dried, it seems that’s kind of what I’ve now got. The vibe in the salon was good though and all the staff lovely, I just really do not like the cut, it doesn’t suit me and it’s not what I was looking for at all. Additional comments since receiving a reply to my review: More than anything, I am writing this review for others looking for a salon, especially girls with long hair who are quite precious about it. I may sound disproportionately dramatic but this haircut has severely affected me. I have attached the email conversations between the salon and I where I am almost begging for a reference photo of what the hair cut is supposed to be to have an idea of how to style it. Robert refuses to comment on anything outside of offering a phone conversation which is quite suspicious. I primarily don't want a phone conversation because our in person conversation is already being manipulated. I also think that expecting me to come back to the salon after what was done is insane. Outside of the fact its a 1 hour journey for me, I have no faith in Robert respecting what I want. About the reply: I asked for long 70's fluffy layers, v cut at back and reverse v with fringe at the front, Robert understood this immediately and I thought we had a mutual understanding. He cut a bit of my fringe, quite short but I thought it would be faded into my longer hair. Then he started cutting the back of my hair, no questions. When I saw he was continuously cutting and layering, I asked to slow down because I did not want a mullet. He knew I was worried, you could see it in my face, and said he knows what he's doing and that I will love it. (I have attached pictures of my hair before and after - same day, as well as the back of my head after drying and curling) Outside of my own feelings, everyone I have spoken to and asked for an opinion has agreed my hair looks much worse than before. It shouldn't matter whether the haircut is bespoke or not, if its not a good cut, its not a good cut and that's really it. I left with my hair only half dry which I only realised outside, so you couldn't really tell what it looked like until I was home/saw pictures of myself from the day - I think leaving the hair slightly wet was intentional. Robert actually did not ask me for a review, I felt like I needed to give one. I didn't care for the refund, I was happy to pay the price for Robert's experience. The lack of Robert's input and refusal to discuss left me with that as the only option. I am more than happy to forward the email chain to anyone interested. I'm sorry its had to be like this, I really wanted this to be a positive experience.
It was first time visiting Robert Bell after a recommendation from a friend and I could not be happier with my highlights and cut. Kim really listened to what I was after and gave me the perfect blonde. I’d really recommend the salon and will be back again in the future.
Had first experience at this great salon today, Toby listened and totally understood exactly what I needed and did a perfect job. Will be booking with him again in the future. Warm friendly atmosphere and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Toby.
This is my second time using this hair salon the first was only a style 12 yrs ago for a tie back fancy hair bun, but I had a wash/cut recently. I am from the Caribbean with Black/Native Indian curly, wavy, bushy hair mix and Lucy done a fantastic job. She actively listened to what I wanted done and also gave me recommended advice. Lucy also has curly hair so I felt comfy and in good hands. I have my follow-up trim already booked.
