Rudest salon owner I have ever talked to, location and quality of service does not even justify the attitude, don’t go, it’s just another back street salon, you can find the same service with better attitude

*Updated 30/12/24* Advised to read all reviews before booking an appointment! Beware of Ingrid. Her customer service is absolutely disgusting and she doesn't like to admit when she is at fault. Ingrid is the owner. Never in my 20 years of frequenting afro Caribbean hair salons have I experienced an owner as rude, disrespectful, arrogant, dishonest, and as hostile as Ingrid. I felt compelled to update my review after Ingrid accidentally called me. Once I confirmed who I was, she hung up the phone without an apology for her incompetence. I recently visited Silk Trends in Chingford and had a very disappointing experience. The customer service was extremely poor. My hair was left tangled due to a subpar washing process and the use of cheap shampoo. The owner, Ingrid, made the situation even worse with her unprofessional behavior. Instead of addressing the issue, she antagonized me and was not apologetic at all. She tried to hide the damage and blamed me for not allowing the stylist to comb my hair first, even though I had given permission. I strongly advise against visiting this salon. The lack of professionalism and care for customers is unacceptable.
As always I’m completely happy and satisfied at coming to Silk Trends for over 20 years. I’ve recommended friends and family who also share my view. Ingrid the owner always gives good sound advice and is very honest with her feedback sharing the best interest of your hair care. Well done Ingrid you’re doing a great job.
This place is awful, the woman who did my hair was so full of herself, only talking about how she teaches how to cut hair, how she knows what she's doing and that she's one of the best. After she did my hair you'd think I was balding. Even after showing her a picture numerous times of how I wanted my hair cut, she proceeded to cut my hair nothing like the photo and not only was it something I didnt want, but it was absolutely abhorrent. After coming home I decided never to go back there. I don't recommend it.
Had a texture release done here a couple of weeks ago and my hair is still in amazing condition! Highly recommend, will definitely be back!
Honestly this salon is the BEST! Ingrid is a hairdresser that actually cares about your hair and knows how to get the absolute best out of your hair. I always leave feeling like a million dollars with my hair flying in the wind. Natural or relaxed this salon is for all black hair.
When I first walked into Silk Trends, I was worried as I wanted to start my natural hair journey. My hair was a mess due to weaves etc and I thought I would be judged. My experience was quite the opposite. The owner, Ingrid told me that the condition of my hair could be fixed and that I shouldn’t worry. She treated and cut my hair and advised me on hair products to use at home. She helped me to be successful and confident on my natural hear journey. She is so helpful and full of good advice. I found the prices very reasonable and the service great from both her and the other hairdresser.
Recently visited Silk Trends to enquire about having a Keratin treatment. Ingrid was very professional and honest. Ingrid advised according to what would be best for my hair in it's current state, rather than just agreeing to go ahead with the Keratin treatment without first checking the condition of my hair. I greatly appreciated her honestly and in-depth consultation, it was evident that she is well trained in hair care. We decided to first strengthen my hair with a protein treatment and then go ahead with the Keratin treatment another time. I was very impressed with the service and final look and will be returning in the near future.
I took my daughter to this salon earlier today for the first time, as soon as we stepped through the door we were greeted by the lovely Ingrid. We didn't have to wait long for my daughters appointment and while doing my daughters hair Ingrid was giving me tips and products that could help with the health of my daughters hair. My daughter left the salon with lovely silky hair and very happy. I highly reccommend Silk Trends and will definitely be going again.
