   Incredibly friendly staff and stylists but unfortunately I have never gotten what I asked for at this salon for years! Each time I come back, I keep thinking things will be different and each stylist doesn't live up to it. I asked for a blonde balayage a few years back from Charlotte and instead my hair ended up a very bronzey colour (my natural colour is a dark blonde). She didn't realise how much hair I had and ended up misjudging the developer and the time it took. I know it's not my hair that was the issue because I've been to several other non-local salons that could do it each time. I've also had my hair cut by Grace, also a while back, but when I asked for layers (I have dense fine wavy hair), she just gave me a straight long cut at the bottom and ignored how I wanted it cut. For anyone who wants to say that "this was a while ago", the stylists were both fully trained and I paid full price and they still work here. Most recently, only a few months ago, I came for a regular haircut (I thought I'd give it one more try since it's my local and Stuart runs the place). The receptionist didn't ask me my hair length on the phone, which meant that when I turned up, Stuart didn't realise how long my hair was (waist-length) until after someone else had already washed it. He told me he didn't have enough time to cut my hair properly since he'd only scheduled 1 hour, but he would make it work. I told him what I wanted and showed him my reference pictures (think Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries lol) and how short I wanted it cut (telling him to cut shorter the layers I had already, with the longest pieces at just above chest height). He asked me if I knew how short that was (I'm in my 20's and have had hair several inches shorter than that). I confirmed I did. He asked me again, showing me how much that would mean cutting off. I confirmed again, especially because my hair is difficult to manage in summer and I had split ends from previous highlights. He asked if I was sure I wanted layers in the back and if I was sure I even had layers in the back in the first place (I was sure on both and it turned out I did have layers in the back anyway). In the end, despite my many confirmations, my hair was left several inches longer than I asked for, not all the layers were trimmed back in (and those that were, weren't properly blended) and it ended up being rushed. It wasn't even blow-dried properly and was frizzing unevenly all over the place (a well-done smooth blowdry shouldn't be frizzy at all). Whilst Stuart was very kind and very apologetic (I only paid the "regular price" instead of the "Stuart premium"), it feels like everyone in this salon has a very "Essex-centric" way of doing hair, and they don't like to do what you ask for if it doesn't fit what they like. I also wasn't given a choice to leave after being told I wouldn't get a proper haircut due to time, because my hair had already been washed by a trainee before I'd even been seen by the stylist. I'm in a position where I'd much rather travel 2 hours to the salon in my old university city (or go to my stylist abroad!) than go here, which is such a shame. And I still need a haircut!

   I had a lovely haircut by Charlotte a couple of days ago. Really good, friendly service, and I'm very pleased with the results. Reasonable prices, very comfy chairs, smart salon and excellent, skilled hairdressers. Warmly recommended.

   Love this salon!! I had the same hairdresser for years so was looking for somewhere new & knew of the great reputation that the salon had so booked in with Isobel for a full head bleach and a toner. The whole salon made me feel so welcome & all the staffed chatted to me including the lovely owner Stuart. To say my hair looks fab is an understatement!! LOVE the colour, Isobel does such a great job (my hairs really dark naturally & she gets it white!!). Would def recommend the salon & Isobel and actually anyone here they are a great team. Thanks guys, see you every 6wks!! :)

   Went for a haircut today. I was made to feel intimidated and unwelcomed It was my first visit and was hoping for a lovely Xmas cut. I was also charged a different amount than agreed on the phone the day before. I only went here thinking I would like to give my support to a local business but I'll stay with my usual Toni and Guy. Very upset x

   Moved to Upminster few years ago , had real problems finding a decent hair saloon. Saw the review of this shop and decided to try it. A great hairdresser, have had hair cut twice, best ever hair cuts . Listened to what I wanted, discussed hair and possible styles. Reasonable price and very professional. Salon spotless and all staff are very welcoming. Having colour in few weeks. A warm and very welcoming experience, really relaxed and made me feel so special.
