   Popped in to Today’s Extra on Albert Road, thinking I’d support a local shop. Unfortunately, they refused to accept a legitimate Guardian subscription voucher (for an actual printed newspaper they sell). Apparently, common sense isn’t on the shelf here either. If you’re after fair pricing, good service and a store that actually supports the community, just walk the few minutes down the road to Morrisons — it’s cheaper, more accessible, and, crucially, won’t look at you like you’ve tried to pay with ancient runes when you present a valid voucher. Honestly, if Google let me give negative stars, I’d consider it. Save yourself the hassle — go to Morrisons where they still understand how customer service works. In response to the Owner :- Appreciate the explanation, but let’s be honest — this isn’t a case of “not having the system”; it’s a case of not choosing to have it. The Guardian’s voucher scheme is open to all registered newsagents through their distributor — not just big supermarkets. Dozens of independents manage it just fine. If you’re going to sell the paper, it’s a bit odd to refuse the publisher’s own vouchers. That’s like a petrol station selling fuel but saying they don’t “yet have the system” to take Visa. So while I admire the effort to sound customer-friendly, I’d suggest being transparent: it’s not that you can’t accept vouchers — it’s that you won’t. Until then, I’ll be getting my paper (and everything else) from Morrisons, which somehow manages to serve customers without the excuses.

   Love this shop. Super clean, staff are great, and they have loads of drinks, sweets, and food stuff from around the world. They stock so much variety its worth going just to see whats avalible. The prices are very good as well. I always pop in when I pass widnes and spend £50 or so on stuff you can not get elsewhere, not all under one roof anyway. It's the king of corner shops.
