The hotel lobby and restaurant looked nice enough but the rooms were very dated. Furniture was tired and had seen better days. Carpets needed cleaning and hoovering on the stairs and in our room there were lots of stains on the carpet. Hairdryer had the most twisted cord I’ve ever seen and didn’t fit in the holder, kettle in the room had a broken lid and didn’t turn off when boiling. The two tiny UHT milks that were suppled in the room tasted terrible and old. Bathroom needed a very good clean and a hoover. There was someone’s hair all over the floor. No handwash/soap, shampoo or conditioner supplied and had to ask for something to wash our hands with. Very small car park which was full when we arrived, had to park two streets away but it was free on street parking so could have been worse. There is a pay and display car park just behind the hotel. Night rates don’t include breakfast. Somewhat noisy in the room with old sash windows not being double glazed and we were woken up at 6 am by some kind of loud fan type noise which we had no idea where it was coming from. I wouldn’t say it’s the worst place I’ve stayed but I wouldn’t go back!

We had our wedding reception here last weekend and it was amazing from start to finish! Jo and Simon are amazing, so kind and helpful. I stayed the night before and soon as I arrived they were helping me unloading my car and making sure everything was good for us all! We had a meal which was 10/10. The morning of the wedding all the staff were on hand to help with anything that was needed even including getting me in my dress and into the car. The rooms were big and spacious with comfortable beds. Throughout the whole day staff were always around to help with anything and no long waits to be served! Again food was absolutely amazing for the wedding reception and so filling every guest commented on how delicious it all was! Will definitely be returning to try the Sunday lunch! Thank you to all the staff at the regent but especially Simon and Jo you are all amazing! The wrights

Can’t comment on the hotel but just had Sunday lunch, we got the platter for 2 and the portion is amazing! Could have easily fed 3 people. Beef was a little too well done for me (that’s just personal preference) but they’ll chicken was well seasoned and the pork belly melted in your mouth! Amazing service from Simon and the team! Always happy to help and nothings too much trouble!

We choice the sharing platter for 2 and there was more than enough!!! The 3 meats were good the pork was the best the crackling was perfect. THE WORST experience at a hotel I’ve ever had, and I’ve been in many as a sports commentator. I looked for a hotel room as I was stuck in Doncaster in the rain after an internet search got a taxi to this hotel. The price online said £60 but I couldn’t book online as it was the same day, so went to reception thinking this would go smooth and i could get some rest. I was met with the most rude, obnoxious and arrogant man at reception. He had a SIA badge around his neck but was also on reception. I said I would like to book a room it said £60 online but couldn’t do it online as it’s the same day, he told me it would be £100. When I questioned the price difference he was so rude and dismissive to me even saying “I don’t have time for this” and told me I was rude and turned away from me and propped his phone up to watch something on it and ignored me. I wasn’t rude at all, I even asked another member of staff who confirmed I wasn’t rude to him. All I asked was why it was suddenly £100. When I asked why he said ok £75 you have cash? I then wondered why he was changing the price at will which I questioned further. Terrible customer service, the wort I’ve seen ever. I walked outside in disbelief. In the rain tried to look for other hotel rooms but at around 1am this was difficult so I had to go back in and ask if I could stay it was embarrassing for me as I had done nothing wrong but been treated so badly and had to act like I had to get a room. He finished what he was eating and charged me £75 which I paid via card which he didn’t seem happy about. I had the worst night stay there due to this. I wish I could get my money back. I was treated so badly that I thought about it for days after. Even the taxi man said that he has heard there has been issues with this man at this hotel before. In disbelief at how badly I was treated there.

Went to a birthday party it was a good get together. Clean and presentable. Pretty good spread. Good service however quite expensive for location £8.75 for a pint of bitter and larger. Staff of Life £5.70 big difference in price used to be a busy place but no longer as busy on a weekend.

Went for a wedding evening reception. Drinks OK but Went and bought from a different bar as the queue was a bit long in our suite. The food was really nice, well identified and a great selection. Later on they brought out takeaway trays which was a wonderful idea to reduce food waste. Only issue was the music was LOUD. When you are at a wedding you generally see people you don't see often so being able to chat easier would have been good. That being said they would probably have turned it down if requested but not being the bride or groom it wasn't my place.
