Don't book this place, it has gone. Some websites like hotels.com still take bookings but then you get there and no one is there. The company has gone bust, there is a sign in the window stating as such. The booking websites won't help you either.

At the entrance to the garden as you are approaching the hostel there is a water leak which I didn't see as it was dark and there is no light. I stepped into the mud and fell over, hurting myself. It's obvious a repair is needed and a light to be fitted. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. There was a good bedside light. There is one curtain only which doesn't fit the window and consequently it made me nervous about safety as I was on the ground floor. The toilets were clean but in one of them there wasn't hand soap and toilet paper had run out.

Not a good experience. A very strange and uneasy feel to the place. This place is not really a hostel, its more like shared living, in which some people there were definitely using as permanent accommodation. Staff were lovely and kitchen facilities good but was smelly and had a sticky floor. Also the cleanliness of the showers looked questionable. Get an air BnB!

Cheap and cheerful, very friendly staff that do the work aways, this was the best thing about it, happy to help, nice people, curry devine down the road is sells a banging lamb curry Very cheap Β£75 for 4 nights No facilities for drying wet waterproofs or clothing Which was a surprise, no common area except the relatively small kitchen. The hostel was quiet when I was there, it would suck when busy. The reviews about cleanliness are right, despite the argumentative owner disagreeing ( I don't think they have ever been there) It's very untidy with black mould on the ceiling above my bed, room hoovered once during my stay so messy on arrival and departure, mattress was not in a good way, kitchen messy. They don't recycle, very irresponsible

Cut my trip short because couldn’t bear coming back to the hostel for the second night. The kitchen table was filthy, the β€œcontinental breakfast” was a few jars of dusty cereals and one of the employees lingered in the kitchen all morning telling guests to do their washing up (one guest left a mug on the side and went upstairs, the employee called after the guest and spoke to him like a parent speaks to a child. The guest was popping upstairs to get changed and returning to the kitchen to have his drink. He had to explain himself, this is an unacceptable way to treat paying customers. Made me want to avoid the kitchen - the only common space available. Embarrassing.) I felt like I was being tested on my cleanliness in a hostel I felt dirty just being in. It was not relaxing at all and I felt like a socially anxious teenager again!! I felt like I was being watched! The room, however, was cleaned by the lovely employee who welcomed me on my first night (the reason this is not a 1 star review) and was a good level of cleanliness - I wish the rest of the place was as clean. The sheets were fresh and duvet was nice but the bed was so uncomfortable I barely slept and woke up with aching joints. No lockers to keep valuables in so I had to carry all my stuff around with me around the city. The room was also way to small for how many beds there were, which just made it awkward and absolutely no storage. Front door and bedroom only locked with a code which didn’t feel safe at all.

Avoid at all costs ! You get what you pay for as they say well here you get alot less. Absolutely disgusting. Even Pablo escobar couldn't smuggle the amount of dust in this place. Kim Woodburn and aggie mckenzie wouldn't even be able to scratch the surface of this bomb site.

Great value for the money on private rooms. Booked here with a short notice (I believe 4 days) and managed to grab a private room for a few days. Staff was really helpful on the first day, facilities are in good condition and the places is well kept and clean. Options in the kitchen for food were plenty and it was always between decent and clean. No rotten food in the fridge!!! I swear it's the first time I find a fridge without rotten food. Not even in the office where there is always someone's pizza from the previous week. Props on that to the staff and guests. My only complaint with my room was that I could hear other guests walking and cooking all the time. So a bit uncomfortable if you are sleeping extra early and have a light sleep. Location can be a bit inconvenient depending on where you want to go and how much you like a steep hill for an entrance. But Sheffield is all about those hills, so that'd be an issue with the city as a whole.

Honestly the worst hostel I have ever stayed in, on all fronts. The floors, bathrooms, bunk rooms were all FILTHY, to the point that I was afraid to touch surfaces or put my stuff down. I did not feel safe leaving any valuables in the hostel room, and only tiny lockers were available to rent. The hostel was still open despite being under renovation, and it was like living on a construction site, with paint and debris everywhere and workers staring when I came out of the shower and making comments. There was only one working toilet and two shower stalls for the whole floor, and these were filthy with no soap. It looked like the reception guy was sleeping on a mattress on the floor of the reception area; the whole place was like entering a squat or a hoarder's filthy apartment. And he was a mean guy, too-- one guy arrived all the way from India with a reservation and having paid the fee to reserve a bed, but the hostel worker kicked him out at 10pm to sleep on the street because he had accidentally overbooked the dorm room. He would not even let him stay in the common area, he kept telling him very rudely to leave, even though it was his own mistake and he should be profusely apologising and doing everything he could to make it up to him! Terrible service and a disgusting place.

We have been here before when we go to a music festival in the city centre. Last time was an amazing experience. Unfortunately this time I cannot say the same. Look at the photos I have attached. First of all we were not told until arrival that we had to pay a Β£30 deposit (this should have been mentioned at time of booking). Secondly, there were face masks and filth all down the side of my bed. (The had to come remove them). There was only one lightbulb in the light fittings so seeing at night was quite difficult. I was having a shower in the morning and the shower head holder fell off the wall and hit me in the face. The dust and cobwebs were everywhere and black mold on the ceiling in the shower room. Upon check out I always strip the beds and clean the room but when I did there was 100s of urine stains on the mattress I had slept on. And my son's was the same. The carpet looked like it had been used as toilet roll with dirty brown marks all over it. I have emailed and given them a chance to reply but nothing as yet.

cheap and fairly cheerful! staff friendly and helpful, beds comfortable, breakfast included (and there is plenty of cereal and toast). the room did smell of old socks...and the whole place is not very clean/ pretty tatty but it's perfectly ok for a night. it is rather out of the centre though - but there is parking.
