   Great barbers, I used to go here as a kid, and now 15 years later I've started coming back, hadn't been to a barbers/ hairdressers in years and certainly not during the pandemic, the staff were super friendly and welcoming, the cut was quick and cheap. I didn't ask for anything fancy but I know these guys do it as well, highly recommend. Update September 2024: still great, love 'em!

   Brilliant local barbers staffed by Nigel and his beauteous harem, which stands out from the (11!) or so hairdressers / barbers infesting Nuxley Road. Nicely decorated. TV or radio usually on. Aircon. Plenty of seating in event you have to wait. However, fewer people work there now so if it's busy you'll be waiting longer. Pro tip; avoid lunchtimes, and also after kids finish school for the day. Better still, go late morning when it's hammering down with rain like I did just now! Empty. Mac's is on 401 bus route. Yellow lines end outside the shop, so parking space is often available in Albert Road between Macs and the Prince of Wales. Don't bother going into Victoria Street (side road on your left just before Mac's), you're unlikely to find a space there. Back towards Nuxley Road, parking is sometimes available but restricted to one hour - and Bexley traffic wardens are zealous. You have been warned!

   If you’re closed for the day and cannot attend to more customers, lock your door and shut the shop. Don’t put potential customers through the indignity of accessing the store only to be told to go away by ungrateful staff. Clearly the business is thriving as I was turned away from Mac’s Hair several times for this reason despite the store being marked as open (was it something I said..?) and empty, while other times it felt like certain staff members thought were doing me a massive favour just by agreeing to do what they advertise; cut hair. That being said, when I used Mac’s (which is unfortunately not that much anymore) I was incredibly impressed by the quality of their work (particularly by the main guy running it) and the banter that came with it. In fact, I’d go as far to say I don’t think I’ve had as good a trim from any other hairdresser since. It’s just a shame that factors like the one I described above and long queue times (again, a very popular business so they’re obviously doing something right) tarnish the rating of a franchise that has such a history and cut hair very well. To summarise, there are other hairdressers in Nuxley Village that may not cut your hair to the same high standard as Mac’s but may be just that bit more appreciative of your custom.

   I have been going to Macs for years now. The staff are always friendly and chatty and you always feel welcome. This is a very popular barber shop and it gets busy so be prepared to wait if you are not a regular or an early riser for that matter. The negative feedback because of waiting times is unwarranted and most unwelcome. To the lazy sods complaining about waiting times, get a life and get up early but DO NOT put down the service or the people just because you didn't get your way. Enough said...I will kick my soap box under the bed now!
