Brilliant youth hostel to spend a weekend in with a load of friends. Wonderful location, perfectly good facilities, at very reasonable prices. It facilitated a great gathering of lots of families with young children to celebrate a friend's birthday.

Rooms were not particularly clean, ladybird infestation in multiple rooms as well as stained pillows, dead flies in the lamp and a hole in the wall. Four plug sockets for 6 people isn't the best either. Service was terrible as well, tried asking for another bin liner to keep the room cleaner for the workers and was completely ignored even after practically shouting. The location around is pretty if you ignore the roads and cars and walk far enough away. Having to walk up and down a hill because coaches can't go to the top everyday was pretty naff. Food was edible but not too enjoyable and to be honest water was the best part of the meal. Best part of the experience was going home.

I sure do love the abundant amount of flies in the lights, mould on the ceiling and bedsheets and dirty bedsheets. Aside from that, the food was mediocre and I was starving a couple of hours after eating. Also, 2 plugs between 7 (10 at max capacity) people is horrendous. The place is also just super inconveniently positioned - you have to walk a solid 5-10 minutes with luggage just to reach the YHA since coaches arenβt allowed up to the main parking lot. The only benefit to the place being so remote is the location, which is OK.

Nice YH - much better than most I've stayed at around the UK. Rooms were really cold though and radiators in the dormitories only came on three times a night. Had to sleep with jumper and socks on.

Very small private rooms, with no storage. One of the toilets was out of use so four rooms had to share one (single) toilet. (Up to 8 people). Clean showers. Good kitchen for self catering. Fantastic, quiet location. Central to some good walks and The Peaks.

Great location for this hostel with lovely walks from the doorstep. However, as other reviewers say, the rooms are very small. The kitchen is particularly poorly equipped (3 pans, no lids, no forks, hardly any cups or glasses), and things are in a poor state of repair (bathroom lights, red hot showers) or badly managed (no towels available to hire, no toilet paper). Really needs some love and attention!

Location is superb. From here you can easily walk to the city of Eyam or up the hills of the peak District. It's a shame that the bar is only open for a brief time. Staff was wonderful, we had a good laugh with the lady behind the counter. Rooms are okay, quite small, don't expect anything fancy.

Fabulous location. Rooms are basic but clean. Everyone working was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty. You are surrounded by lots of people and you will hear them, but the pay off is that you are in the heart of the Peak District, a beautiful location and well worth considering.
