   Really cool wine shop. Loads of wines to pick from, well presented and a helpful, pleasant staff member on hand to direct you to what you may and may not like - she came across as really knowing her stuff! Parking right outside which was convenient and pretty easy to get to. Worth visiting if you're after trying a glass of something new.

   One of the best wine merchants in the country. The Chester branch is housed in an art deco former auction house. It doesn't have the character of the Shrewsbury head office cellar warehouse but is light and airy. There are other good independent wine merchants in Chester and Liverpool areas, and plenty of choice in supermarkets and stores, Tanners however is a treat to visit. Whether you buy a £10 bottle, a 15 or £16, or spend potentially vastly more you are almost guaranteed to get a good or very good bottle of wine. Regular prices start at about 9.50. I've rarely had an own label from this wine merchant that isn't good, & worth the price. Especially recommend their choice of French, Portuguese and some Spanish.

   An amazing experience, in my opinion the best Wine suppliers in the north west! I can only imagine the person below is actually looking for someone to fly over to Menorca and buy a case of wine for him! A shop after all, does not have an unlimited range. And if you're that specific about your Wine then the best place to go is the Internet. Rant over I use the store for its true purpose which is to be advised on wine, and they serve my needs extremely well to this capacity, and the staff are well trained and extremely knowledgeable. Glad to have a Tanners in Chester, strongly recommend.

   Visited this morning for the first time. Was disappointed with experience. Was looking to buy a case of a particular wine from Menorca and was told by young bearded assistant that they did wines from Mallorca but not Menorca. No suggestion that they could or would order the wine for me. I was told to "just find a supplier on the Internet and order it by myself". When I learned that a wine supplier was about to open within a short walk from where I lived I was quite pleased. However, they clearly do not want to sell anything that is not currently on their shelves nor to develop customer relationships. I shall continue to shop in the city for my requirements and just forget about Tanners.
