Fantastic tour provided by Ferah, well paced walking around a busy Saturday in York, lots of “bits and bobs” (code for history lessons and key York historical moments), genuinely enjoyable experience, thoroughly recommended.
We were a small group of 8. Alfred was a great guide. He did an excellent job in walking us through the history of York from the Romans to the railways and was able to link the development of the city to landmarks that we passed - with a great commentary, extraordinary historical knowledge and a lot of humourous anecdotes thrown in. One of the best walking tours I have been on and I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Ferah was an excellent, deeply knowledgeable guide for our walking tour with Yorktour. She provided historical context about the Anglo Saxons, Romans, Vikings, Normans, up to the present day-- as well as interesting details. The overview of York was a great way to start our weekend visit.

Lovely, entertaining and informative walking tour in York. The guide very graciously let me join the tour on Sat even though I booked for Sun by mistake. I would say it's mostly a history tour, and its excellent as that, but don't expect a tour of the most scenic/popular tourist spots in the city. The tour makes rapid progress and is packed with information, so photos may have to wait till afterwards, which is fine, because then you can revisit the places that you visited and dwell a bit longer there to soak up the atmosphere and get those photos for the album. Overall a very enjoyable tour.
We had Alfred take us on a walking tour today and it was amazing! We learnt so much and saw things we definitely would not have seen if we just explored York ourselves! Alfred was enthusiastic and hilarious and made the experience fantastic! Highly recommended for anyone visiting!
