My first time at Storyhouse. I saw a performance of Beauty and the Beast here and loved it. Would love to return again in the future.

Storyhouse has always been a special place for me. I used to go there regularly just to play Scrabble, and it never felt like “just” a venue – it felt like a community. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, with people of all ages sharing the space comfortably.

We recently ran a conference for 80 people in the Garret Theatre at Storyhouse Chester, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The venue was modern, welcoming and perfectly equipped for a professional event, with great acoustics and a flexible layout that worked really well for our programme. The team at Storyhouse were brilliant throughout, friendly, organised and always on hand to help. Everything ran smoothly, and our delegates were really impressed with both the space and the service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a high-quality venue in Chester. Welsh Dee Trust

Our second experience visiting the Storyhouse, seeing the comedian Josh Jones on 19/09/25. The Storyhouse is a great venue with multiple floors, bars and a large library. Today we were in the Garret Theatre, a smaller theatre than the others but can still hold many people. There is a ok sized bar just before you enter, but the poor member of staff was on her own under a lot of pressure with a long line. There was no visibly displayed menu so she has to tell numerous people what was available. The Kitchen has lots of available seating. I ordered a hot chocolate after our show ended and the staff were nice, visibly displayed menus. Every table has a QR code to order online and then a pickup point is very clearly signed on the end of the bar. The hot chocolate was great and decently priced. Parking is available down the road at New Market.

Been my favourite place to come to for a long time, good coffee, free chargers, if you get a library card you can use their computers for free for an hour which is amazing! Also so many good books, been to a few shows there and they always blow me away, the performers are amazing. Plus so many activities and events happening all the time! Never been to one myself but i’ve heard from friends that they are really good for meeting new people and for a general good time. Highly recommend!!

Attended the small Storyhouse Cinema to watch a film. Storyhouse is located in the historic heart of medieval Chester within the city walls, off Northgate Street just past the Cathedral. The enclosed cinema is located on the upper floor and is accessible by lift and stairs. The place is very clean, warm and new looking. There is a restaurant on the ground floor with the ticket machines (x3), as there is no box office. You can wait for your film to start downstairs in the restaurant seating. You have to pay by card chip and pin contactless and get the receipt out of the machine as your ticket. You can select your seats from the diagram on the display screen. Your ticket and seat number is then checked as you go into the cinema door. Not many places you can give a five star review to, but I cannot fault it.

Love the library, the library staff are lovely , haven’t really been to the cinema( yet) but the guy at the entrance, I’m guessing was security, was just shocking. As I was walking in today I get shouted at as apparently my bag needs to be checked. Fair enough but There are other ways to inform me of that other than shouting at me. Even after I immediately follow the instructions I just got dismissed. No sorry no nothing

Visited on Saturday 28th may to watch the new Tim Firth play 'now is good'. Excellent cast and great play. Made me quite emotional, as well as it being funny. I asked at the bar if i could pass on my comments about how good it was and the young lady pointed me towards a gent at the end of the bar, Tim Firth. He was very gracious and polite. The storyhouse is s wonderful little theatre, very friendly and accessible. It wasn't a full house that night( due to the uefa champions league match) but the cast played as if to a full house. Staff are always helpful, amenities are always clean. Recommend both storyhouse and the play 'now is good).

One of Chester's highlights. Used to be an Odeon cinema which closed. Transformed into so much more now... Theatre, food, bar, library and more. Visited on many occasions, never been disappointed.

Brilliant community hub in Chester. It's got a cinema, theatre, library and cafe inside the one building. It used to be the old Odeon Cinema and it's good to see it breathing life once again. I just popped in for a meal and local craft beer, ended up chilling out here for over an hour.
