Unfortunately this place has too much to handle: school activities, gym, swimming pool, various classes and the rest gets thrown in the sports hall. Even though it’s part of the Livewire Hubs and leasure, this centre has not been upgraded for 50 years, so a long term member told me! Every aspect of it badly needs upgrading, everything stretched to it’s limit! Shame for the OAP and retired people that are keep to keep fit, no special efforts or separate place for mature age members activities. If you think, they have probably contributed the longest with their subscription! I hope the Council will wake up and work towards a solution soon. I’m sure they know that keeping elderly fit will reduce and/or certainly delay their NHS costs in the long run!!!

This leisure center is shocking; it's rundown, dirty, and clearly neglected. The facilities are outdated and barely functional, and the entire place feels more like a forgotten warehouse than a community space. The pool is pretty unhygienic with constant dirt at the bottom of it, for example, always dirty floating plasters. The dance studio is a safety hazard with screws coming up on the floor, which is completely unsafe when doing activities barefoot. What's worse is the staff's attitude. They can be rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. They have spoken to me before with sheer rudeness, which is completely unacceptable when I am paying to use the facilities. It's not just me; I have been in there before and witnessed staff talking to the school children with outright hostility, treating them like a nuisance rather than young people. I have also had friends who have had similar experiences. If this centre is meant to serve the community, it’s failing miserably. I hope someone takes notice and makes serious changes, because right now it’s doing more harm than good.

Most of the staff I have encountered here have been welcoming and helpful. However one particular young bespectacled female reception worker should learn to hold their rude comments about clients until they are well away from the reception desk.

The fitness changing rooms & Sauna facilities both need a complete revamp & more realistically, the whole building needs rebuilding. The building’s footprint is limited, so if ever rebuilt they probably need to add another floor for more space. Currently, there is only ONE shower in the upstairs male fitness changing room. This small changing room can probably only accommodate about four people in total comfortably. Ingeniously a hand drier has been placed above the bench in the changing room so if you sit under it expect to be blown to bits. The Sauna downstairs has been out of action since the pandemic, looks like there is no intention (or money) to get this working again. You cannot use the swimming changing rooms when schools are in, which is annoying, but there was barely enough room to get changed in the sauna room if there were more than three or four people in there anyway. Just a small bench and two changing cubicles in that room. Humidity in the Sauna room was also always very high from my memory, so it was difficult to get dry in that room after using the Sauna. Another thing is the gym is missing items of equipment that is available at other Livewire sites. No bicep or tricep machines here. Yes, the gym is a smaller one here, so there are limits to what it can accommodate but I’d rather have at least one of everything rather than numerous treadmills & rowers etc.

I like it there but changing rooms and shower for gym are not that good but the equipment is modern and just as good as all the other gym in the group just a bit smaller.Needs a big refurb. The staff are always nice and welcoming.

By far the worst thing is its showers, particularly the private ones in the mens side. 1. Very poor coverage due to very small water output so getting the pool water off the body is not effective and it becomes a skin irritant. 2. No temperature control. Sometimes the temp can be too high and it can feel like its burning. 3. No directional control so the water does not get to where you want it ( but there is not any to be had anyway) 4. They have been like this for years. Compare this to the Orford pool and it is obvious that Broomfields has had little investment. Having said that, the Orford pool showers are quickly going the same way. And that is just the showers. Want to talk about lockers, hygiene, etc?

Great staff getting there early for my morning swim at 630 every day. Needs some money spending on it now.
