I have been a member of this club almost since it opened, having joined primarily for the indoor tennis facilities. In the last couple of years there has been a significant reduction in the number of outdoor courts and little to no investment in the indoor courts either. It seems that the club’s priority is to provide car parking for an increasingly over-subscribed club instead of sports facilities. Having jumped on the Padel bandwagon the club even managed to install the worst playing surface in the Manchester area. I could also criticise the changing rooms but in some respect the membership need to take some responsibility for being considerate to other users. However, housekeeping definitely isn’t as good as it used to be. The lack of transparency on membership fees is also a bugbear, with fees varying from member to member, particularly the ‘legacy’ members like myself. Any questions on the subject are dismissed and leave you believing that the DLL business simply does not care about the members once you have joined. In some respect this shouldn’t be a surprise given that it has been under many different owners over the years and is just being used as a cash cow probably to make it more attractive to prospective new owners. From a tennis perspective, if it wasn’t for the fact that there are so few indoor facilities in the locality many members wouldn’t continue their membership. For a business that bears the name of one of its founders, a well known name on the tennis tour in his day, they should be embarrassed by the tennis facilities at this club.

I have been a member at David Lloyd Cheadle for a few months now and I am highly impressed. The gym equipment and facilities are amazing. It makes going to the gym a breeze. Tane Bantley showed me around for my introduction and made the whole experience so welcoming and smooth, explaining what was available and where everything was. It certainly helped the decision making to join easy for me.

Been a member here since January now and can't explain how much it has changed my mindset on fitness. Spend most days here now and definitely get my moneys worth with all the classes and courts you can book here. Thanks to Tane Bentley for giving myself and my fiancé the initial tour and signing us up, he's certainly a friendly face we enjoy seeing around the club!

I’ve been really disappointed with David Lloyd and feel the standards have dropped massively. The changing rooms are not clean and look extremely dated — it honestly feels like they haven’t been updated in 20 years. The showers are dirty, the toilets are often filthy and don’t flush properly, and the foot spa is full of mould and constantly out of order. For a membership costing nearly £200 per month, the level of cleanliness is completely unacceptable. On top of that, we’re expected to pay extra for the spa, yet the doors are always left open, meaning anyone can walk in and use it — so what’s the point of paying extra? It’s really disappointing to see such poor maintenance and hygiene from a gym that markets itself as “premium.” Definitely not worth the money until they invest in proper cleaning and refurbishment.

I honestly can’t recommend David Lloyd enough. The facilities are amazing and there’s pretty much every sport or activity you could want to do, all in one place. Whether it’s swimming, tennis, or gym sessions, everything is really high quality and well looked after. What really stands out for me is how welcoming and supportive the staff are, especially if you have any accessibility needs. From the moment I joined, they were so understanding. Once I explained what I needed and provided the right documents, they were incredibly accommodating and made sure I felt comfortable using the space. They even provide any equipment you might need for a sport, and having fresh towels available is such a nice bonus as it just adds to the overall experience. I’ve been a member for a while now and somehow it keeps getting better every time I go. If you’re looking for a gym that truly cares about its members and offers top-tier facilities, this is definitely the one.

Disgusted. I have been a member for 5 years at David Lloyds and actively travel the country utilising my my paid for MULTI GYM access. Upon my first visit at Cheadle I could not fathom how rudely I was greeted by the Saturday evening (date 25/02/23) front of house staff (namely WARREN - in an orange personal trainers uniform) who greeted me with disdain and made me feel like a filthy criminal. Upon my request to sign in a guest I was told spitefully how I was in the wrong since this wasn't my home club - as if to simply suggest I should turn around and drive away. Upon my obvious refusal and request to speak with his manager which he spitefully agreed to do eventually. I was fortunately handled much better by manager who resolved the matter quickly. Abhorrent. As a long standing member I am simply insulted and extremely offended. I should add as a mixed race member I felt this had a lot to do with the way I was treated. Fortunately the manager resolved the issue quickly and well with the usual expected decorum of such a high standing club. The club has been redeemed by the manager and polite friendly cafe staff. I can only suggest Warren is given further training so as to not further horribly damage the long standing excellent reputation of the clubs. Regards. Platinum member S K.

Incredible SPA, and outstanding hygiene standards. I’ve been a member for 3 months, and I can assure you that if you plan on using this club and everything it offers… it’s definitely worth every pence.

I would have given a 5 star. It was an awesome experience just that we had a late start because the therapist were late and there was no other. But the whole experience of spa day was fantastic. Will definitely try again hopefully will have an ontime start

Gone downhill unfortunately and wanted twice the price to move from Edinburgh. Literally wanted £150 per person per month....even if joining as a couple! The massagers are gone and the outdoor pool isn't open in the winter now yet the prices haven't changed. There are much better value gyms around and a couple places for indoor tennis too but I'm disappointed because I used to love this place!

I Signed up for platinum membership the highest you could and used to enjoy sitting outside in jacuzzi as I had signed up for. You now can’t use it unless you are ‘diamond’ member at nearly 200£? Feel they changed the goal post. Indoor pool very dated for a gym of this calibre. I agree with the upgrade of indoor spa as it is an new addition, just seems very unfair you cannot use outside.
