The first time I was stopped, the store was using an older scanner that failed to register one of my items (I felt annoyed for waiting longer than needed and with a lack of clear communication what was going on as it was not obvious, we found a technical issue after I had to take out all items and count on a table near by, I didn’t notice the one item and the staff even struggle to show number of items when looking at my receipt). Unfortunately, the way a senior female staff member spoke to me and my partner came across as rude, accusatory and as if I was beneath them, which understandably left me irritated. I appreciated that the manager later listened and treated it as an honest mistake rather than an act of wrongdoing, and I’ve noticed the scanners have since been upgraded the following week, with no further scanning errors on my end. The issue that transcend after this is what led to this review... I’ve now been subjected to multiple item checks, sometimes seven items, and most recently, every single item in my basket all within one week. While I understand security measures are in place the frequency and consistency of these checks feel less like random audits and more like targeted scrutiny. Today, the male staff member who stopped me was polite, as were the security team (they always are to be fair), both male staff and security have always been friendly. But I’ve read other reviews echoing my concern about certain older female staff at self-checkouts, from their their tone often comes across as accusatory rather than helpful. It’s ironic that a store offering a SmartShop system meant to streamline shopping feels so alienating. If the technology is flawed or inconsistently applied, and if certain customers are disproportionately checked based on appearance (which I feel is based on my case and personal experience) then the promise of convenience rings hollow. I’ve seen actual shoplifting incidents where staff took no action (security staff do stop them but the rest non-security watch with little verbal expression), yet honest, regular customers like myself are repeatedly questioned in such an unprofessional and accusatory manner. This imbalance undermines trust. Despite being a loyal customer, the cumulative effect has led me to shift my shopping to Tesco, M&S, and Aldi alternatives where I feel treated with more fairness and respect. There’s a right way to balance security and customer dignity. Right now, it feels like this store is getting it wrong. Also it seems like other reviews are too echoing as a minority they have been subjected to this treatment. I guess they have enough customers but over time, word does spread if no change happens, so I sincerely hope it does change at this store with how they not so randomly do their smart checks and how some staff (not all) speak to customers - we are hard working people just like you, so equally we deserve the same respect you would like perhaps consider that when error has been made from the check out equipment you provide, it not always the customers error, it could also be your own.

Nice store with friendly staff, huge car park which can be a bit too much in busy times. Inside there's a nice little Argos inside with a lot of items stocked. Huge range of clothes with pretty good prices, for standard work wear. Healthy food throughout the store too. Nice selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.

My second visit in less than one week, both times are spending well over £100 which is so easily done now a days. The customer service is absolutely appalling, on Thursday 7th Aug 2024, I use the nectar card hand scanner the first visit, for the first time ever. I had a coupon to spend £90 to receive £12 off and I wanted to know exactly how much I was spending to make sure I can use the voucher. Anyway after making sure I scanned every item before placing it into my bag on my trolley, while explaining constantly to my four year old as it was a new concept of scanning ourselves, once we got to £91.11 we headed for the checkout, anyway the scanning check out was closed so we went to the next self check out area, scanned the hand held scanner, and it said it needed a check. So I asked the Sainsbury’s assistant that was working the area she came scanned my scanner and walked away, so I tried to pay it wouldn’t let me the scanner was still frozen. I wasn’t too sure what was happening so I tried to flag the same assistant down again. She came back over after helping a different customer, And I asked her, the scanner is still frozen is it something I’m doing wrong? She said “no I needed to check!”, I told her I thought she checked already that’s why she left to go help another customer then she proceeded to repeat the same thing to me but walked away to help another person… In total, she helped another three more customers, So I said to her, do you know what I’m just going to drop this whole scanner thing and go through a normal checkout because I wasn’t getting any help or assistance needed. Anyway, she came back over, scanned 2 of my items and said in a very loud voice “you only scanned one”, She repeatedly said the same thing over three times to make sure everyone around us could hear that I only scanned apparently one of the two items… So she said she had to rescan my whole trolley so she took me to one side rescanned my whole trolley. The total amount on her scanner was £91.11… Then I said to her look the scanner has the same amount as when I scanned it so it meant I did not forget to scan something and if I did forget to scan something I did it unintentionally but she treated me like I was guilty of theft. Without an apology or I am so sorry she just said all done! You can pay now, I have flagged this issue down to another shop assistant that day she was absolutely lovely and a manager replied with I need to get the other story… But I didn’t write a bad review because it was a one off and the second Sainsbury’s assistant was very nice and instantly said I’m sorry this has happened and that was all that was needed. Upon returning today on Saturday, the 9th of August I bought two bottles of champagne For my cousins birthday today, someone had helped me checked out and confirmed that I was over the age of 25 to buy alcohol. I’ve now come home, And I decided to open the boxes of champagne to have a look inside before popping it into a wine bag to go to my cousins party now and there are two large security seals on the top of necks of my champagne. Utterly disappointed that I spent £140 onto two bottles of champagne and now I have to go back and waste time to have the security heads taken off because the man at Sainsbury’s FORGOT to do it… Terrible and terrible

This Sainsbury's has plenty of parking space and also has a gas /fuel station/pump. This is a reasonably large supermarket with an individual section for Argos, Habitat and customer care. This store has almost every essential items I usually purchase.

A really good local Sainsbury’s in Ruislip with free parking spaces and a Argos store inside. It’s usually quite the times I go but the weekends can get very busy and the shelves become empty. They have everything you would usually find in a Sainsbury’s and this one has a Halal Meat section which was nice.

It’s quite big and busy one. There are some empty shelf at vegetables section although staff are already working real hard refilling. Smart shop scan a QR code at the entrance on the first salad fridge, feels a bit old fashion Very convenient location

This is the only Sainsbury available for South Harrow and Ruislip residents as the one closed in South Harrow. Sainsbury's has gas station attached with express shopping. Sainsbury's outside you have recycle station to collect recyclable waste. You can park your car for 90 minutes. And you need a £1 for trolley. Timson kiosk is outside with dedicated parking. The store is not crowded most of the time , on the entrance you have self scanner's which will save your time on checkout. They have good stock most of the morning whereas in the evening it's difficult to get fresh produce. They have butchers, lyods Pharmacy , and live Sushi / shashami counter. After from groceries they also have some clothes for kids and adults , homeware and kitchen ware. Staffs are helpful but hard to find them. Checkout staffs are friendly. They have sanitisers upon entrance and enjoy the shopping with peace at this store.
