Only used this gym for a single session to try before I move into the area. Gym staff all seem very friendly, some decent looking kit dotted about for a mixture of functional fitness, strength training and general cardio. Some extra bits that are available in other clubs would be nice, different overhead press bar and maybe some heavier kettlebells. But over all a decent setup with friendly staff.

Review pertains to Total fitness Wakefield gym. I was a member of the gym since opening. It has desperately gone down hill since covid. It used to be a great gym, but unfortunately this is no longer the case. Opening hours have reduced and havent returned to normal since, despite gym fees increasing, resulting in higher profits for the company, less offered for thr customers. The annual family day passes were also removed from membership. It closes way to early on weekends and Fridays in comparison to other gyms, which also offer better value memberships. Public sector discount no longer offered. Teenagers unable to swim unsupervised under the age of 15, regardless if achieved competency swimming certificates via total fitness (how is this logical) Children can't swim after 8pm. No swimming dress code and noticed more frequently young females walking about in bikini thongs - not appropriate for family friendly gyms. Equipment old and out of use for too long without being repaired. Leaks in ceilings. This company is all about profit and demonstrates no loyalty to customers. Management rude and staff unprofessional. Membership cancelled

I’m extremely happy with Total Fitness Whitefield, especially the Women’s Gym section. My wife has been training with PT Sahar, and the improvement has been incredible. She had been struggling with back pain for a long time, and after working with Sahar, her pain has reduced by almost 90%. The progress is real and visible. Sahar is a fantastic trainer—professional, patient, knowledgeable, and truly focused on each person’s needs. She designs the workouts specifically for my wife’s condition and motivates her at every step. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better PT for her. I also visit the main gym regularly, and I personally drive her so she can train in the women’s section. It’s totally worth it when you see such amazing results. Highly recommended gym, and a big shoutout to PT Sahar for her outstanding work!

I honestly can’t believe how far Total Fitness Whitefield has fallen. I used to genuinely love this gym, but the recent decline—paired with rising prices—has pushed me from loyal member to completely fed up. First of all, the opening hours are ridiculous. They close far too early, especially on weekends, which makes it almost impossible to train if you have a normal work schedule. For the money they charge, the hours should be getting longer, not shorter. And don’t even get me started on the changing room saunas. They turn them off 30 mins prior to the gym shutting. What’s the point of having these facilities if they’re switched off before most people can even use them? The facilities are constantly out of order, and it feels like nothing ever gets fixed. The perfect example? The cold plunge pool. It’s been out of use for years so they covered it up with tiles, the tiles cracked, staff had to rip the whole thing off, and now the plunge pool is just sitting there completely out of use, exposed and looking like a construction site. It has been left in this state for weeks, which is honestly embarrassing for a gym of this size. Meanwhile, the steam room hasn’t been working, and the showers and sinks are surrounded by bugs. To make it worse, they smell strongly of urine—absolutely disgusting and totally unacceptable for a place that calls itself a premium fitness centre. It’s honestly heartbreaking how much this place has declined. I used to be proud of being a member. Now I’m just angry I’m still paying for standards that keep dropping while the price keeps going up. Total disappointment. I’m seriously considering cancelling my membership.

This gym is terrible. The cable machines are of a terrible quality and always breaking. The gym equipment is filthy and not cleaned properly. There is a low number of gym equipment that is required for such a busy gym. The basic equipment the gym should have, they don’t have enough of. The showers are disgusting with bugs crawling across the ceiling. I feel dirtier after I have showered than before. The showers are either freezing cold or boiling hot and switch on and off at random times. The sauna and steam room are very dirty and do not seem to be cleaned. As a note the sauna is broken 25% of the time anyway. The general customer service for all the total fitness gyms is awful. It’s almost impossible to get through to them on the phone and when you do get through they are generally unhelpful. I would rate this gym at zero stars. If you don’t believe me then go to another similar priced gym like the Marriot or Village and see for your self the overall difference. I was told they take customer reviews seriously. Well the showers haven’t been adjusted for over 1 year since my feedback and also not getting a response from them. Stay away if you want an overall clean gym with good equipment and half decent customer service.

Overpriced for what it is… only good thing is pool facility.. membership team don’t care about anything apart from taking direct debits and don’t accommodate very well. Feels very business driven and not welcoming like a gym should be spending 7-10 hours a week there.

I bring my daughter here for swimming lessons and it is great. It's a beautiful pool and the gym looks fantastic. Not sure I could afford to go there myself though.

For some time now, the water in the main swimming pool has become a lot colder than it use to be. After a 12 length swim we are really cold (people shouldn't be feeling that cold at that point when swimming). We are not the only ones either, some people don't even bother getting in the pool because it's so cold. I know there's a cost of living crisis but as members we are all paying more so we expect the facilities to remain the same, if not even better. On a positive however, the staff are always polite and helpful and the women who clean at Whitefield are second to none - the place is always spotless.

Lady on front desk wasn't exactly welcoming .... Some good staff here though, Joe on sales is a top lad! Equipment is OK, but for the price, we'll I cant believe they are charging David lloyds money for maybe a quarter of the offering... Not for me...

The changing rooms are clean and spacious, there's pools and saunas and plenty of equipment in the gym but the parking wasn't great. If you go when it's busy you may struggle to park but there is an underground car park as well as the one at surface level. There's not kuchen floor space in the gym for stretching, freestyle work outs, yoga etc. But I got on all the machines I wanted when I went.
