   Following a lengthy closure for building redevelopment, Tesco Express Northfield Avenue reopened on 7th November 2025 with a complete refit, giving more floor space and wider aisles. With sleek new chiller cabinets and display shelves, the revised layout is a huge improvement on the cluttered old store. My only criticism is that the self-service checkouts are extremely close to each other.

   Staff are never at the check outs. even after politely asking them after walking to the isles to find them and ask them too serve you ; they ignore you and continue to talk amongst themselves and don’t bother serving customers. Furthermore incredibly rude when asking for assistance during shopping within the store. they flat out ignore customers or just shout over to a colleague (who also ignores you ) and then they continue to gossip amongst themselves

   How horrible experience ever I've had today! I was shocked to find în my shopping a very smelly chicken when i opened up its bag! I just went back to the supermarket to let them know and they got angry at me saying their policy is that I bought it at 10.30 am and now us 5 pm, and they can't exchange it. ( just spoke to the head office, and that is not true in this case, so the staff lied to me, or they don't have a clue about what they say) Obviously i did my shopping earlier and put everything in the refrigerator till i would use it to cook. Imagine if we had cooked it and were very ill - chickens can kill!!! P.S. Fridges are always open, and they don't bother to check and close them. Of course, in this weather, meat gets off very quickly.

   Staff here are appalling and don't do their jobs properly (why are they all Indian??). Freezers often broken risking food expiry and bacterial growth, boxes strewn all over the floor along with spilled liquids which the staff don't clear up, numerous pricing errors on goods. This store is a disaster zone.

   good selection of meal deals and has pretty much everything you'd need. however i visited during a heatwave in july and the freezers were broken and empty w no ice lollies or ice cream. usually one cashier at a time serving people whilst the rest of the employees are nowhere to be seen, could be better but i've seen worse places

   Not the ideal time for me to visit as the chillers were down and had been emptied. Service was friendly and helpful though. There are two self service tills here.
